cabbage juice

rifle147620

Gang,
I made some cabbage juice as per the files. Pretty tough stuff to
drink tase wise. On the 2nd batch it seemed to be pretty mild in taste
as compared to the first. I used a cup of the original and let it work
for 24 hrs plus. Also the material seems to separate while working--
does it need to be stired?? Any comments.

Hi, Nelson.

Yes, I think the cabbage recipe in the files needs some checking into
and tweaking. I made a large batch exactly according to the recipe, and
it is undrinkable because of the taste. There is something rotten,
rather than sour about it. The juice from the soured cabbage I made
using soured vegetable started was very good. But the recipe from the
files made juice such that it is only good for watering plants with.
Anyone else have similar results? Or can somone point out what I might
have done wrong? I did cover the liquified cabbage immediately after
putting it through the blender, so I do not think some wrong
microorganism got into it. The recipe actually could not be more
straightforward. I cannot understand what happened. At least it is not
expensive to make, so negligible money lost.

Elliot,
The results I got was a very stronggg taste but do not think it was sour. I
went to the site that was mentioned where it would appear the instructions
were obtained but ran into a blank wall. The instructions are there but no
way to access "Chris Gupta" the apparent author.

I have another batch going and have added some salt. I wanted to avoid salt
but thought I would try the sauerkraut approach.

Nelson,

Where in the file is the recipe for the cabbage juice. Under what heading. I
could not find it, to see if I can help you. You see, I drink cabbage juice
everyday and have no problem

Anna

Hi, Nelson. I see that I did not dilute the cabbage juice with 2-3
parts water when drinking it. I will try that to see if it makes the
juice more palatable. If not, I am going to use cultured vegetable
starter in the next batch.

Anna, it is under Files > 5 - FSO2 "Recipes"

Nelson,

I have not made it as I have been drinking cabbage juice instead as
instructed by my naturopath. These have enzymes and other good things.

I did notice that you have to drink your 'cultured cabbage juice diluted' is
that what you did?

I had the same experience. The smell was intolerable. I couldn't even
get close to it without the feeling of gagging. I never attemted the
process again. I to would like to know if there is another way of
making the cabbage juice

Right! 4 oz (1/2 cup)of cabbage juice with equal amount of water 2 to 3

I juice cabbage leaves and call it cabbage juice, what you are drinking is
"cultured cabbage juice". Please use the correct terminology, so as not to
confuse fellow readers.

I cannot help you with this dilemma, because I drink cabbage juice and find
the enzymes and other antioxidants, minerals to be sufficient in my healing.

I'm late on this thread, but maybe store bought cabbage doesn't have it's enzymes because, like all other grocery store veggies, it's treated with a chlorine-like enzyme inhibitor to reduce spoilage and increase shelf life. The juice might require organic cabbage that hasn't had it's enzymes inhibited.

I have never heard of this "chlorine-like enzyme inhibitor" being used
on "all store-bought veggies." Certainly it cannot be totally potent,
as storebought carrots with tops will still sprout, potatoes and sweet
potatoes will sprout, and, I certainly expect that the insides of all
vegetables and fruits would not be affected by what you are talking
about. They would have to soak the vegetables in the stuff to treat the
entire vegetable. Is there anywhere you know of that I can read about
such an enzyme inhibitor being used on store-bought vegetables?

Thanks.

Elliot
