BP = 2,150 calories/day = TOO MUCH FOR ME...

PLEASE HELP. I"M SICK OF BEING FAT!!!

I am doing the diet part EXACTLY as it is outlined. And have already taken out the
Champagne since I found out it was optional. However, I just counted the calories and
2,150 is what I came up with which like WAY too much for me. No wonder I can't stop
gaining weight. I am 5'3 and used to weight 120 to 125. After chemo (which totally
altered my metabolism - no, I did not binge out of depression) I now weigh 157 and can't
seem to get the weight off.

Johanna advises against heavy excercise if one has had or has metastasis (which I did). But
that 20 minutes of walking a day just aint cuttin' it.

What do I do? Can I cut some of the Diet? If so, which part? I am also finding that I am not
even hungry yet stuff it all down because I know it is healing me. I feel so full all the time
and don't like it. Here's a summary of my daily Diet Schedule and then the calories
assciated with all the food.

Wow, I had no idea the calorie count was so high. When I started
eating raw over 2 years ago, i lost a lot of weight(was 70lbs
overweight) even though I ate a lot of nuts. Now I am doing the BP,
and have less of an appetite, so I eat less nuts. I don't drink the
wine and will not since I have liver disease and cannot believe that
it won't hurt me. I use stevia or agave instead of honey and don't
eat grains unless sprouted.Everyone is different so I don't presume
to advise you, but one thing that should help is to increase green
juices and drink green tea.
Good luck to you,
Rivkah

THanks Rivkah. I drink the outlined Veggie juice every day and drink Green Tea ALL day throughout the day.

Bronwynn,
Perhaps instead of cutting out part of the menu, you can just cut
down on portions. If you are gaining unwanted weight, it would make
sense to scale back the amounts more than cutting out things which
might be crucial.
Budwig did not want people overeating any more than eating unhealthy.
Eating smaller portions should help keep from feeling so full.
It is hard to give a detailed list of how and what to eat and not get
too complex, but what you might need at 5'3" is not the same as a
6'4" man.
If you have the time to walk twice as day that may help as well. It
wouldn't increase the stress, but would speed up the weight loss.
Hopefully by making small adjustments, you can find "your ideal"
amounts.
Keep up the great work!
Martha

I am only 5 ft and 110 lbs. I find it hard to believe this diet was intended to be exactly the same for a 5 ft, 110 lbs. woman as a 6ft 4in, 300 lbs man so I just cut the portion size on everything except the FO/CC (since this is the "foundation" of BP I don't dare mess with it.) I drink veggie juices, eat salads w/ only vinegar or lemon, and small portions of veggies, many times no grains and I don't eat oleolux or drink wine at all. I take only 4 tsp of the whole flax seed ground up each day & eat only about 6 Brazil nuts daily. My weight has leveled off with no weight gain. I drink green teas also. Only eat fruits, usually organic strawberries, with my FO/CC and only use stevia and organic cinnamon or small amt of organic cocoa to flavor it. I don't use any milk. I think you just need to tweak the diet until you find the right caloric intake for you.

I agree with Rachael about tweaking the calorie intake to fit your frame, and I also don't think there's anything wrong with exercising a bit more to burn those extra calories. I know Dr. Budwig said something to the effect that very ill patients shouldn't overdo it, but I wouldn't limit myself to 20 minutes if I felt okay doing more. For one thing, if you have estrogen positive breast cancer, your cancer feeds off of the estrogen stored in all those excess fat cells, so I think losing the extra pounds is important.

Hi Bronwynn,

In our Introduction to the Budwig Protocol, we say not to overeat.
Stuffing yourself isn't good. Let's see what you can omit.

Wine is optional, so you can eliminate that & omit 150 calories.
Stop all nuts except 2 Brazil nuts a day for selenium, omit 120.
Cut the dinner of veggies & grains in half, omit 100 calories.

Rice milk is not part of the BP & should not be used.
Use skim or low fat milk instead or fruit juice.

Cut the amount of papaya in half, omit 60 calories.

Use a lower calorie fruit than banana for the focc shake.
Berries are the best cancer fighting fruits & are recommended
by JB and in our Introduction. They are about 85 calories for
a cup - use half in each focc instead of banana - omit 20 calories.

Are you using Barleans FO? Their container says that the calories
are 120 per tblsp. That's 720 for 6 tblsp. Omit 60 calories.

Nancy's low fat CC has 80 calories for one half cup CC.
The FOCC recipe requires only a half cup per serving.
That comes to 160 calories for 2 servings rather than 200. Omit 40.

This eliminates over 500 calories from your daily menu, bringing
your total calories for the day down to about 1600.

If you take a 20 minute brisk walk every day, that may take off
another 200 bringing your total down again to 1400 for the
day. If you stay with this plan you may be able to lose weight.

Also, rebounding on a mini-tram is especially good for moving
the lymph system and another good way to use calories. Because
you are in remission now, you do not have to follow JB's rule
about mets meaning no exercise. You no longer have mets.

Best wishes,
Sandra

Thank you all so much for your advice. Sandra, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to disect and adjust each item on my list. You are an absolute Angel and I will jump right on top of it ALL. I guess I was just in the mindset of "Do everything Johanna says so you can continue to LIVE" I did not take the time to apply, I don't know, LOGIC to my situation. I'll blame chemo-brain for that one. Or my blonde hair. Both are good excuses :) And I have to say, at the very end of your post, when you were talking about how excercise is ok if you are not seriously ill with metastasis, I just MELTED when you said "You no longer have mets". That made my night, my week, my month AND my year! You are so right. And although I have been telling myself that and telling you all the same, you are the very first person to say it like that. It was beautiful and I loved it. Thank you. I will make ALL the adjustments that you and others have taken the time to advise me of. Peace :)

I was just thinking too about something I did . . .

A few days ago when there was all the discussion about making your 2nd FO/CC ahead of time, I began to do this. This has helped me SO much to be more compliant, such a timesaver. I mix the entire thing except for the flaxseeds, which I grind and mix in right before I eat it. Anyway, when I started doing this I used twice as much FO/CC and milk, but kept the other ingredients the same. I use only 1/2 a banana, a handful of blueberries, and a handful of nuts, and a dash of stevia powder for my entire daily dose. It tastes fine and cuts down on the bulk.
