Mr. Beckwith posted it in FlaxseedOil but the post didn't go so I
tried this one. It is OT from flax oil, but I felt I needed to
respond, Matthew 25:35-36.

Not OT: I like flax oil on ice cream. Hey, ice cream is frozen so
maybe an organic icecream maker will blend some in already as a
health benefit marketing concern.

Hi,
I don't remove the skins at all. They are ground up and become part of the pulp. You could peel them if you like, but I, personally feel that it's good to get the whole food, together, the way it was created. There are probably nutrients in the skin that go along with, compliment, or empower the nutrients in the nut. Nature put the skin on the nut so I just feel like it's probably best to consume natures combination. If you want to peel them I guess you'd have to just do it with your fingers, one by one. It really is yummy without peeling them though.

preparing almond milk........ remove the skins or buy them already
blanched then place in distilled water for 24 hours, then drain and put the
almonds in your blender and blenderize with fresh distilled water........
until you are happy with it, keep in the refrigerator and drink it up as it
will begin to sour, some people add honey or juice to make there own
flavour, almond milk can also be used for cooking (so I've been told, I know
that rice milk can't) however it is great with your morning cereal or just
to drink as a glass of cold milk and no milk allergy problems...

The prophet Edgar Cayce made a statement that if you want to protect
yourself from cancer then eat 5 or 6 raw almonds every day...

Almonds are sooo good for you. It's a good idea to soak them for 10 minutes or so in a solution of water and hydrogen peroxide. You'll see a frightening amount of action there. Anyway, this will take off any fungus lurking there. Then you can rinse and soak them. Overnight is sufficient to awaken the life force, increasing the nutritional value 100 fold. It's best to soak them in the fridge as they "turn" very quickly. After soaking they're ready for making milk, if you like. It's simple. Here's a basic recipe:
1 cup raw almonds
1 quart good water
1 tsp vanilla
salt to taste ( important to add this for full bodied flavor)
Sweetener to taste (I use raw honey. You can add just a tad, or more, for a sweet milk)

Put the almonds in the blender with half the water.
Strain through cloth (can be cotton or synthetic - even a new paint straining cloth)
Put pulp back in blender with rest of water.
Strain again.
Rinse blender
Put milk back in blender, add other ingredients and mix
KEEP REFRIGERATED
p.s. you can add more or less water, once you know what you're doing, for a thicker or thinner milk. This recipe is the average.
p.p.s. The PTB say that a handful of nuts per week will increase your life span.

You can add all kinds of yummies to this milk to make nog, soup, etc. It's fabulous on granola.

Shipment of Flax Oil

I'm sure you will find your order of flax oil purchased through the mail/internet to be just fine and, if not, I'm sure the company you purchased from will replace any order not specific to your requirements.

*From my research* for flax oil to become rancid it has to:

1. Reach a temp of over 400degrees

2. Have been opened and left to sit at room temperature

3. Have been opened and refrigerated and reached the expiration date

4 Reached the expiration date having been refrigerated or not, opened or not

5. Been frozen for longer than 1 yr (this is disputable, however, I would not extend the 1yr for freezing)

The only exception with the expiration date is if the bottle has been frozen. Freezing will extend the expiration date. When freezing it is best to use as soon as possible once thawed.

As, Wilhelm states here, always test your flax oil when opening it. This is just plain old good advice.

I placed my order on June 23 with BioSan. It was on backorder from Barleans (which is in Seattle) as BioSan does not hold it in stock for the freshness factor. My bottle of flax oil (32oz) was shipped from BioSan on July 1 ...I received it 6 days later ( had a weekend in there too!). (BioSan I believe is in Arizona, I'm in Michigan ) It was fresher tasting than any Barleans I had bought locally. I opened a bottle the day I got it, froze the other. The first bottle I opened was just finished yesterday. Good to the last drop ! ;)

Just spoke with two local health stores....their Barleans comes in a UPS or FED-EX truck- not refrigerated!
If you ordered from the net you would be getting yours the same way. Think about it. And this...some of the oil I had gotten from a health store has been on the refrigerator shelf longer than what I had in the above mentioned shipment.

This has been my experience from purchasing on the net or locally. To each their own.

This is a good idea to do w/all nuts as a rule, because it removes
their enzyme inhibitors.

And as a side note, I believe almonds are strongly cancer-healing.

Of the first 108 universities founded in America, 106 were
distinctly
Christian, including the first, Harvard University,
chartered
in
1636.

the original Harvard Student Handbook, rule number 1 was
that
students
seeking entrance must know Latin and Greek so that they
could
study
the
Scriptures: "Let every student be plainly instructed and
earnestly
pressed
to consider well, the main end of his life and studies, is,
to
know
God
and
Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, John 17:3; and
therefore
to
lay
Jesus
Christ as the only foundation for our children to follow the
moral
principles of the Ten Commandments."

James Madison, the primary author of the Constitution of the
United
States,

said this: "We have staked the whole future of all our
political
constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves to
govern
ourselves
according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments."

Most of what you read in this article has been erased from
our
textbooks.
Revisionists have rewritten history to remove the truth
about
our
country's
Christian roots. You are encouraged to share this with

I think there is one primordial distinction needing to be made here - that between the concept of God and the various concepts of man's religions. Personally I very much believe in a creator (without having any kind of "substantial" proof) yet don't endorse any one particular religion with its attendant dogma but only "believe" in LOVE. ... no book, nothing is as important as love in my view... Do I need to give the reason?

Never a war has been waged in the name of Love (and I wager it never will), but many a war has been waged in the name of various religions and God concepts...

And now that I also took the .liberty to go off-topic here, let me repeat that (as was only recently re-stated by Wilhelm) "religion has been off-topic on this list since it was founded by Cliff".

Yes of course this is a flax seed and oil discussion group, but perhaps a few
of us have chosen fo,cc instead of conventional therapies for health reasons,
in my case it is my husbands breast cancer,
We are at the early diagnoses stage and have had chemo and radio and hormone
therapy 'thrown ' at us by his doctors, all they say is he must start straight
away , so for me anyway any discussion of chemo is interesting so perhaps if
we mentioned it in the subject line others wouldn't be annoyed buy opening
mails that were slightly off topic but still relevant?

In a lot of European countries we can buy almond milk, sometimed almond and
hazlenut or almond and rice milk ,,, I love it,,, perhaps you could get your
almond that way if it is obtainable where you are,

in reading emails about flaxseed oil, that is why I joined this group.

Looking at the flaxseed oil diet I notice it mentions rye bread... does
anyone eat it and do you know if its the hard rye cracker type bread or german
pumpernickle ooo or just normal type bread?
