White Button Mushrooms questions
Hi I remember this mail about wbm I hope it help
Regards Riccardo Switzerland?
So a few more questions about the WBMrms and how I dry them and could there be negatives about eating them uncooked. \ I used the lowest heat on the dehydrator which is around 40 degrees centigrade, dry them until crisp enough to break easily and then grind them to a fine powder in a coffee grinder.
There are some mycologists (fungus experts) who caution about eating them raw, saying they may be difficult to digest as the cell wall is not easily digested and this produces vomiting in some folk. I had no trouble as I think the grinding process breaks down the cell walls. Also, there are some potentially harmful hydrazine compounds in them which are reduced by cooking. This may be true but the quantities are very small compared to harmful doses of hydrazine, and the history of eating these mushrooms goes back to ancient times without known ill effects other than a few idiosyncratic effects (personal allergies) as can occur with almost any food.
Doses. I used the maximum dose for three months. On reading the full paper I realized that one of the most successful results was with the highest dose, 14grams of powder, the other equally successful result was with the medium dose of 8grams daily. In future, I will use 8 grams to be on the safe side for long term use.
In a long-term study, women who had an intake of these mushrooms equal to one mushroom per day (cooking not mentioned but most likely) had a 30% reduction in breast cancer rates. So if aromatase is the main cause of this it may survive cooking, but there are two other. mechanisms that? they use to help destroy cancer cells so even this is not certain. There are few studies on these mushrooms, most are by personal experiments by mycologists, not scientific studies.
My Dr. was very interested in my PSA result and requested a copy of the full paper when I said it was due to white button mushrooms as I had not had the Androgen Deprivation Therapy injection due three months previously. He is of Indian extraction and is more interested in traditional medicine than my Urologist was even though I told him about the Budwig Diet. I delivered the printout to the Dr's office this morning.
This simple food seems to hold promise for us with hormone-sensitive prostate cancer that is not responding to anything else but debilitating anti-hormone therapy. At least it is a food so it is not in direct conflict with the Budwig Diet ;)
Love to all, Julian?

White Button Mushroom Queries
Hi All, In answer to the Query about Daily dose quantity for dried white button mushrooms it is of course Grams, not milligrams as one might deduce from the fact mentioned that I get through about a Kilo of fresh mushrooms a week.
No, I havn't heard about cooking the mushrooms to get the benefit. the Paper only specified lyophilized WBM powder, that is, freeze dried, they obviously work for this purpose (lowering PSA) without cooking.
No, I havn't the Url. The Phase 1 Trial was published in? CANCER Sept. 1 2015.
A Phase 1 Trial of Mushroom Powder in Patients With Biochemically Recurrent Prostate Cancer: Roles of Cytokines and Myeloid-Derived Suppessor Cells for Agaricus bisporus Induced Prostate Specific Antigen Responses I suggest you search this title Not using the major search engines as they are heavily biased by advertisment revenues and any alternative information may be 20 or more pages in, enough to put most people off the search. At the moment I am using? 'Duck Duck Go' to search with for any Natural cures . Hope this clears up the queries, Chiao

Prostate Cancer Success Stories
All - I'd like to hear about any success stories for those with prostate cancer following the Budwig CC protocol. I've seen some examples on the internet, but they seem to be few and very dated (years), without a lot of specific details. Does the protocol actually help and what are some of the benefits people are seeing? Significant reduction in PSA, decrease in tumor size, reversal, etc?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Dried white button mushrooms as substitute for ADT drugs
Hi Julian, you say you dried the mushrooms and then consumed them but what I've read is you have to cook them to get the benefits because of the outside wall??? Have you read this? And what's your thoughts on this?

Sorry I should have explained about Dried white button mushrooms being used in a trial with advanced prostate cancer patients with success in reducing PSA by average 40% and in two cases out of the 40 in trial, reduced to 0.
This was mentioned in my other posts. I dry supermarket button mushrooms in a dehydrator, low heat, or in sun and grind in a coffee grinder when brittle. 15 grams of dried mushrooms is equal to about 10 times of fresh, so about a kilo of fresh mushrooms a week is what I purchase. As the trial used two doses, either 8grms daily or 15 grams daily I have tried both doses over two 3 months periods ,the 15 grm dose worked better for me.
I hope this clarifies things for you. ? Best wishes, Julian

Shalom Jackie, of course you can drain commercially prepared Kefir and then use the Kefir cheese to mix with the flax seed oil.
Shalom Diane, once the Kefir is DRAINED, it will be thick (concentrated) enough.

Hello guys, i am new to the group. I am 32 years old. I have recently been diagnosed with marginal zone lymphoma and I am very interested in following the budwig protocol.
I have read quite a bit from some websites and most of them have directed me to this group. I wanted to know if you guys have seen the protocol work for this type of cancer. I am guessing 'yes' since this cancer has to do with bad cells. also if you can give me information as to where to buy the things I need to follow protocol and tips. Thank you in advance and god bless you all.

Re: Request for Suggestions when away and cannot prepare meals for Spouse
Hi Ruby
My husband has the same cancer and we started on the protocal last year.? I totally understand how you feel your life is one feeding machine and cleaning up.
The FOCC can be made up ahead of time and frozen including the fruit - he likes blueberries ?but do not add the flax seeds.? They must be added at the time of eating.? The sourkraut i juice once a week and keep it in a glass bottle in the fridge.
There has to be a reality of living and balancing your life.? So soup can be made and frozen so can food.? I know its not ideal but for 3 days it will be ok.? You must look after yourself as well and the retreat sounds a great idea.? I also like the recipes from delicious ella you just tweak them a bit eg no oil substitute coconut oil etc.? They are tasty and quick to make. ? Pasta wise i use pea or lentil pasta we have this perhaps once a month as a treat.
The juicing unfortunately should be fresh each day and if he cant do it well perhaps you may have to miss it out again - for 3 days a balanced view must be taken.
My husband who is not a cook makes his own FOCC up now and also "builds" as he calls it a mean salad which he enjoys.? Could you encourage your husband to do the same?
We shop every 2-4 days for food otherwise would have no time left for anything else which is important.? I bulk buy in flaxseeds, pumkin seeds etc again to make my life easy.
I hope this is helpful.

I am progressing with the recipes but not with much of other things.? All I seem to do is juice, FOCC, lunch, juice, dinner.? I use the Oleolux for your recipes and must try the others like the replacement for Mayonnaise. I am getting the hang of it.? I select recipes from the Budwig Videos website and do the grocery that same day for the lunch and dinner. ? Would you have any suggestions for a concern I will have? ? My husband had prostate cancer.? We now are doing our best to change our diet to a healthier one using Dr. Budwig¡¯s.? I will be away for 3 days on a retreat.? I have prepared everything for my husband and I know we cannot have left overs.? Would you please suggest for me what I can do for my husband on those days when I am away from home. ? Can I make the FOCC ahead of time?? Will he just ¡°survive¡± with salads?? Make him organic spaghetti? ? Thank you, Ruby ? ? Sent from for Windows 10 ?

Shalom Jean,
Kefir grains cannot replace quark or cottage cheese, but they can be used to make quark.
First, you place the Kefir grains in cow's or goat's milk to create Kefir.? Then you must DRAIN the kefir to remove most of the whey (about 65% by volume, I think - not sure).? You can do that by draining the kefir in CHEESECLOTH.? What remains in the cloth will be "kefir cheese", which will be about 10% protein.? That will be perfect in place of quark or cottage cheese (in my mind better...).
