Denise Newkirk

Hi Elona,

Following is a response I wrote to another member's inquiry not too long ago regarding my own experience with Stage IV colorectal cancer w/liver mets.? I hope it helps.

I was diagnosed in 12/09.? I'm afraid I completely bought into the fear the docs placed in me and I had a bowel resection in 1/10.? My first liver tumor was discovered in a PET scan shortly thereafter.? In 2/10, I began chemo.? The plan was to have 6 sessions, then surgically remove the tumor in 6/10, then six more sessions after.? However, the very first chemo session hit me very hard and they don't improve after that.??

To make a long story short, the chemo very nearly killed me.? I barely made it through five sessions when my oncologist called a halt and said go have the surgery.? They had to wait 2 months for me to recover enough that I could have the surgery.? After the surgery, I KNEW the follow/up chemo wasn't going to go well, but I went ahead and had the first session anyway.? Bad move.? I just about crawled into my pump take down after that one, collapsed in the treatment room in my nurse's arms and began to whimper that I couldn't survive another.? She ran and got my oncologist and when he?came I whispered that I didn't think I would survive another treatment.? He completely agreed and we called off all further chemo.??

As I lay in his office being hydrated and given anti-nausea meds. via my port, my nurse came in and suggested I look into the Hallelujah Acres program, especially fresh raw organic juices.? At that point, I had not been able to consume ANYTHING for ten days.? However, when she mentioned the juices, something shifted inside me and I felt my entire body reaching for them.? When I went home, my mother went right out and purchased a commercial quality juicer and she and my husband began a brigade of buying organic carrots and fruits by the case.? I lived on nothing but those juices for three entire months.??

Shortly after my collapse at the oncologist's, I developed an enormous abscess on my liver and underwent emergency hospitalization.? My Mom and husband kept the juices coming during the eight days I was hospitalized.? I went home to an entire month of antibiotics that were so strong they had to be administered (by me trained by a home nurse) via my port.? All this time juicing, juicing, and researching.??

I was a health food nut prior to my diagnosis and had been vegetarian off and on for years.? So, when I FINALLY came across the Budwig Protocol, that really clicked for me.? After nothing but juices for three months, I slowly transitioned to the Budwig Diet for the very ill.? This took me up to 10/2010.? Unfortunately, in 2/2011, another liver tumor was discovered.? Off I went to UCSF again in 3/2011 to have the second tumor surgically removed.? However, I knew what I was doing by then and took everything with me that I needed to stay on the BP.? That wasn't as difficult as you might imagine because following liver surgery there are 3-4 days of clear liquid diet only.? I couldn't do FOCC, of course, because of the blood thinning properties of FO (bleeding is an issue following liver surgery and one has a drain coming out of one's abdomen for nearly a week), but I took organic vegetable broth plus some green tea for the clear liquid diet phase.? When I transitioned to full liquid, I added freeze dried raw juice powders.? When I was upgraded to soft foods, I got plain yogurt from the hospital kitchen and mixed it with my juice powders and added some honey.? And, that's the diet I held for the remainder of my eight day hospital stay.?

In my f/u visits with both my oncologist and liver surgeon, weirdly, they both said exactly the same thing, "You almost certainly have more liver tumors, but they are too small for us to detect as yet.".? And, here I am, deemed cancer-free as those expected tumors never showed their ugly heads!? Awful long story, but I felt you wanted to know.

In March, 2018, I will have seven years of no detectable cancer.? I remain on a modified Budwig diet.? I love it.

Best,
Denise

Re: OT--cancer diagnostic tests

Hi Leonard

I was delighted to see your response - thank you (for some strange reason I did not see your original email response but saw it in Dana's email string)

After checking out the critical sources (Gammill, Quackwatch) and the abstract of the paper in Pubmed) I did not see anything that put me off continuing with the Navarro HCG test. ?However, I really appreciated the suggestions for other brain cancer marker tests - I am very keen to do a deep dive into the "liquidbiopsy" and "CAprofile" and I really hope that one or both of these tests will be suitable as I really want tests from at least two different sources going forward. I will let you know how I get on

In reply to someone who asked about cbd oil, even though this is a Budwig group?first and foremost, I must reply to what I believe is incorrect information.
I have a family member who uses medical cannibus but NOT for cancer and it is a lifesaver however anyone who has been?using it or watched the series
The Sacred Plant would know that using either cbd or thc separately is NOT recommended for health benefits you must have both, in other words using the
entire plant although?there are different formulations that may include a higher cbd with a low thc (the psychoactive part). I know this is not part of Budwig protocol
but needed to reply to people who commented on using cbd oil only to know it is not as beneficial.
