Re: Repost: Questions from a Newcomer

Me-Ann, I've bought that brand before but didn't have great results. It might be ok, but I kinda considered it a waste of time. And when you're dealing with an aggressive cancer such as mine, I'm not going to waste any time.?

Unfortunately, my experience has been that you get what you pay for with Essiac. If it's cheap, it not very effective. Although we all know the rule that "everyone is different" and there are a lot of different cancers, which react differently.?

But I wouldn't screw around. Google 'essiac sheep sorrel roots' and you'll find a few good sources. The best I've found is at humbleweed.net but there are a few other sources selling basically the same thing. I don't think anyone on Amazon?sells the really effective stuff.?

Hemp oil

The topic of CBD oil came up recently, which somehow reminded me that I bought a bottle of hemp oil several months ago and had completely forgotten it. I used it one day back in May and put it in the fridge.?

CBD oil and hemp oil are not the same, but they have some similarities, I believe. CBD has some ability to slow cancer growth, while THC (in cannabis oil) can actually put cancer into remission. Hemp oil isn't known to do either, but has some therapeutic benefits. Particularly with pain management. It also has a relaxing effect and helps quite a bit with sleep. It doesn't make you feel drowsy but just lets you relax better and get into a deeper sleep. Or so they say.?

Since I already had the oil, I thought I'd test it out. I have a lot of neck and shoulder pain when I sleep due to my swollen neck lymph nodes. It causes me to wake up every two hours, and prevents me from getting enough rest. Generally, that has been the biggest issue I've faced so far with my condition. It had gotten to the point where I had to take ibuprofen before bed sometimes to keep the pain to a minimum and I was still getting 5 hours of sleep at best.

About 5 days ago I started taking a tablespoon of hemp oil every morning and evening. It tastes kind of odd.. an earthy and slightly nutty flavor in a very oily substance. But it's not bad. Just different. By the way, the brand I bought is Nutiva, which is highly regarded and can be found in many grocery stores or bought online (Amazon carries it).?

The result was almost immediate. Within a day, or maybe even less, the pain mostly faded away. It's there sometimes still, but not nearly as intense or often. I still wake up sometimes at night but now it seems to be only once or twice instead of 4 times. And I feel a bit more relaxed in general. There have been no side effects at all.

Many reviews online say people who have had arthritis for years are pain-free after just a few days and they stop using painkillers entirely.

I don't think hemp oil will have any direct effect on cancer, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone dealing with pain or sleep issues. Considering it only costs about $15 for a bottle that will last a month or two, it's worth checking out.?

Re: Repost: Questions from a Newcomer

I've tried a few different sources and recently bought from humbleweed.net and consider it the best I've found. They have the regular strength stuff and extra-strength (with a higher percentage of sheep sorrel roots). There is another source online that carries the same thing for the same price. Most likely getting it from the same supplier. It arrived about 4 working days after I placed the order.?

Another thing about essiac is that you need to prepare it properly. You start by bringing a pot of water to a rolling boil and then add in the tea ingredients. Let it simmer for 10 minutes covered and then take it off the heat. Let it sit overnight. The next day warm it up again (although some sources claim this is not necessary) but do not boil it. Then strain out the large sediment but let the fine 'silt' pass into your storage jars. Refrigerate it until use and warm up just as much as you need at that time. Swirl the jar a bit to distribute the sediment before pouring out your serving.?

I drink about 2oz twice a day. I don't bother to warm it up, but I hold each sip in my mouth until it warms. A quart jar lasts me about 5 days, and the ingredients to make a gallon (about 3 weeks worth) costs about $50-80 depending on which strength you order.?

The taste is slightly acquired but you quickly get used to it. And considering the small amount you drink at a serving, it's very easy to tolerate.?

Re: Gotta gain weight. How?

To gain weight, I would consume:

FRESH-SQUEEZED JUICE, particularly CARROT, BEET, dark/concord GRAPE, pineapple, papaya, apple, GOJI, POMEGRANATE, blueberry juices;?rice milk, ALMOND milk;?green drinks.

FSO/CC; BEETS,?sweet potatoes/yams, avocado;?papaya, kiwi, blueberries, fig, organic grapes/RAISINS, dried fruit, pineapple;?BROWN RICE;?almonds, walnuts

sweeteners¡ªraw honey.

Re: Brain tumors and the budwig diet..advice

Hi Jeanette

No, the Budwig Protocol isn't bad for brain tumours.

?I wonder if this person was concerned about the fact that tumours can sometimes initially grow on this protocol before they start to shrink? Obviously this is potentially more of a problem with brain cancer than for example, breast cancer.

You can find testimonials in the files section, here is a link;

The protocol is the same for all types of cancer.

Best wishes?

Is the budwig diet bad for brain tumors? What about breast cancer?

Should I be on a different diet for them? Any advice would be appreciated!

If you choose to do Essiac, be sure you get it from a source that includes the Sheep Sorrel ROOTS. Most suppliers list 'sheep sorrel' in their ingredients, but they are only using the leaves and stems, which aren't effective. Rene Caisse insisted that the roots were the most important ingredient in the tea.

Re: Questions for Sandra

I agree with Sandra. And those vitamins listed are vital to fighting cancer. Especially vit D, which should be balanced with K. Vit K might also be important since it helps blood coagulation. We all know BP is a natural blood thinner. I take K once in a while to prevent nosebleeds.?

Cottage cheese does contain some B12, so that isn't as important here, but if you are concerned about deficiency, I'd err to the side of supplementing.?

Another vital supplement to consider is magnesium. If you are supplementing vitamin D, you'll likely need more magnesium since your body uses it to convert D supplements into a usable form.?

Two things every cancer fighter needs is a good level of D and magnesium. You can never have too much.

Hi June,

When your doctor has prescribed certain supplements due to deficiencies found through testing, I believe that it's a good idea to take them. The other supplements you listed are also okay to use if they seem to be helping you.

Hi Elona,

I am very committed to certified organic.? It's a personal choice, and for your loved one, I think it is more important to get the produce and start the juicing - organic or not.?

For me personally, I live in a part of the world where cert. organic produce is readily available.? Also, I grow much of my own in my small urban garden.? I have long been an advocate of organic gardening.? After the burdens placed on my liver, my commitment became nearly 100%.? But, like I said above, the juices are of greater import should your loved one decide to take them.? I don't know how available cert. organic produce is in your part of the world.

I believe carrot juice should be at the foundation of any juicing program.? Good digestive fruits to add to that are pineapple and papaya, both of which tend to be on the safer side to eat non-organic.? However, the top priority at this stage is to get the patient to start consuming them, so you should go with whatever appeals.

Best,
Denise

Hi Elona,

Following is a response I wrote to another member's inquiry not too long ago regarding my own experience with Stage IV colorectal cancer w/liver mets.? I hope it helps.

I was diagnosed in 12/09.? I'm afraid I completely bought into the fear the docs placed in me and I had a bowel resection in 1/10.? My first liver tumor was discovered in a PET scan shortly thereafter.? In 2/10, I began chemo.? The plan was to have 6 sessions, then surgically remove the tumor in 6/10, then six more sessions after.? However, the very first chemo session hit me very hard and they don't improve after that.??

To make a long story short, the chemo very nearly killed me.? I barely made it through five sessions when my oncologist called a halt and said go have the surgery.? They had to wait 2 months for me to recover enough that I could have the surgery.? After the surgery, I KNEW the follow/up chemo wasn't going to go well, but I went ahead and had the first session anyway.? Bad move.? I just about crawled into my pump take down after that one, collapsed in the treatment room in my nurse's arms and began to whimper that I couldn't survive another.? She ran and got my oncologist and when he?came I whispered that I didn't think I would survive another treatment.? He completely agreed and we called off all further chemo.??

As I lay in his office being hydrated and given anti-nausea meds. via my port, my nurse came in and suggested I look into the Hallelujah Acres program, especially fresh raw organic juices.? At that point, I had not been able to consume ANYTHING for ten days.? However, when she mentioned the juices, something shifted inside me and I felt my entire body reaching for them.? When I went home, my mother went right out and purchased a commercial quality juicer and she and my husband began a brigade of buying organic carrots and fruits by the case.? I lived on nothing but those juices for three entire months.??

Shortly after my collapse at the oncologist's, I developed an enormous abscess on my liver and underwent emergency hospitalization.? My Mom and husband kept the juices coming during the eight days I was hospitalized.? I went home to an entire month of antibiotics that were so strong they had to be administered (by me trained by a home nurse) via my port.? All this time juicing, juicing, and researching.??

I was a health food nut prior to my diagnosis and had been vegetarian off and on for years.? So, when I FINALLY came across the Budwig Protocol, that really clicked for me.? After nothing but juices for three months, I slowly transitioned to the Budwig Diet for the very ill.? This took me up to 10/2010.? Unfortunately, in 2/2011, another liver tumor was discovered.? Off I went to UCSF again in 3/2011 to have the second tumor surgically removed.? However, I knew what I was doing by then and took everything with me that I needed to stay on the BP.? That wasn't as difficult as you might imagine because following liver surgery there are 3-4 days of clear liquid diet only.? I couldn't do FOCC, of course, because of the blood thinning properties of FO (bleeding is an issue following liver surgery and one has a drain coming out of one's abdomen for nearly a week), but I took organic vegetable broth plus some green tea for the clear liquid diet phase.? When I transitioned to full liquid, I added freeze dried raw juice powders.? When I was upgraded to soft foods, I got plain yogurt from the hospital kitchen and mixed it with my juice powders and added some honey.? And, that's the diet I held for the remainder of my eight day hospital stay.?

In my f/u visits with both my oncologist and liver surgeon, weirdly, they both said exactly the same thing, "You almost certainly have more liver tumors, but they are too small for us to detect as yet.".? And, here I am, deemed cancer-free as those expected tumors never showed their ugly heads!? Awful long story, but I felt you wanted to know.

In March, 2018, I will have seven years of no detectable cancer.? I remain on a modified Budwig diet.? I love it.

Best,
Denise

My organic health food store offers 15% off case lot purchases. Twenty-five pound sacks of flax seed qualifies for the discount. The big savings however, is no shipping charge. You might want to look into it.
