Angel,
Budwig used the word "spoiled " within 10 to 15 minutes. From her book FLAX OIL AS A TRUE AID....., page 22, "When flax seed is rough-ground the beneficent fatty acids, that is the threefold ones, the very best ones, will spoil rapidly---within 10 to 15 minutes." She goes on to warn that this is particularly harmful.
What spoils in ground flaxseed, as in any nut or seed, is the oil content and rancid is a very good description. Even if it does not taste rancid it will begin to break down very quickly due to exposure to light and oxygen. If you cannot eat it fresh or in a protected state it may be best to skip on occasion.
Nelson
Rhoda et al,
Then why did JB say it must be eaten within 10-15 minutes? I just read that
in her first book but don't have the reference handy.
