Re: Flax Seed Allergy

I agree with Elliot that a skin test might help, but if you already have the rash then that might be a bit of a problem. The other thing one has to remember is that the healing crisis could often be responsible for especially skin rashes. I have seen this happen to many people after 2 or 3 weeks on the protocol. My own dad had a terrible rash that lasted about two weeks. After that, he was fine, and now, more than two years after starting the Budwig protocol and still using it, he is still rash-free.

Karl,

This has come up several times with regard to flax seed OIL, and my
personal suggestion with regard to testing for possible allergy has
been to place a dab of flax seed oil on the soft skin of the upper arm
over where the elbow is, covered with a band-aid, and to leave it on 24
hours. If any redness or itching occurs, one may assume there is an
allergy to the oil. With regard to ground flax seed allergy, I expect
there is someone in the world who is allergic to just about every food
there is, so it is certainly possible someone could be allergic to
ground flax seed. I suppose you might do the same kind of test on your
arm with ground flax seed, only make a paste with some water and put
that on your arm with a bandaid and leave on for 24 hours.
