update after onc visit

I had an appointment with my onc this past Monday, and we reviewed the
results of my blood tests.

I have been off of chemo for 9 weeks now...feel so much better!!!

I am in treatment for stage 4 breast cancer with mets to liver and bones. My
liver enzymes were a little above normal, but not alarmingly so. My tumor
marker the CA 27-29, was slightly elevated. At the end of chemo it had been 40
(normal is less than 38) In the 8 weeks in between tests the marker rose to
47. Not too terribly frightening as my cancer has proven to be extremely
aggressive in the past.

I discussed my new diet changes, at that point I had been on the Budwig plan
3 weeks, prior to that I had been following the Gerson method. He said that
it was likely that the diet had slowed the progression, as the 7 increase was
not very much.

I will return in 3 weeks and monitor the blood tests again at that time.

My commitment has been renewed, and I will put more energy into this, I am so
hoping to see good results in 3 weeks. I DO NOT want to go back on
chemotherapy, and desperately want to be able to treat myself with more natural
alternative methods.

After hearing all the talk about the dangers of CT's and Pet scans, I will
put off the tests, though at some point they will likely become necessary to get
a true picture or my status.

I feel lucky to have an oncologist who will work with me, and knows that I
have been researching and finding information for a long time, and will respect
my decisions regarding treatment options.
