Re: Suspected lung cancer: Next steps after pet scan

Monica,
I can only personally speak of the Navarro HCG test. I use it to track my progress.
From my understanding, there is no blood test at this time that is lung cancer specific. However, there are ones that can track cancer (generic) in the body. AMAS, which is covered by Medicare is one, I believe. You have to order the kit and then go to a drawing station. As I said, these tests are NOT lung cancer specific. They are only good in determining IF you have some form of cancer, and then use future testing to track your progress.

Others on this site will be able to give you better info on the different blood tests and their value.

Tom,

Thank you for your prompt reply. ?Just two quick questions:

1) You mention the HCG urine test -- are you using the Navarro test from the Philippines or do you have another source? My friend is based in US so would prefer a local source.

2) ?You also state "?There are other blood tests that will confirm whether your friend has cancer or not." ?May I ask which tests you are referring to?
