Just got this in my inbox... and ordered it! An Unexpected Discovery. . . Eilidh Bradley was a star to most everyone who knew her. A famed Mancunian scenester, record sleeve cover star and leader of a variety of musical acts, why things never quite clicked for her commercially is a true mystery. A flirtation with possible great success with Solar Race - with ongoing support from John Peel, an album for Silvertone recorded at Abbey Road by Steve Albini, opening slots on tours with Bush and Hole - didn’t pan out, despite the stars seemingly perfectly aligned. Described by friends as intelligent, ambitious, beautiful and kind, Eilidh's life ended tragically in 2014, her body discovered at her home, some time after her actual passing. No official cause of death was revealed. But in happier, more carefree days, Eilidh recorded a studio session of pop perfection, alongside Si Wolstencroft (THE FALL / HOUSE Of ALL), Chris Bridgett (DUB SEX), Andy Rourke (THE SMITHS) and Martin Duffy (PRIMAL SCREAM). The four tracks they recorded were thought lost, until Chris stumbled across the tape earlier this year. Sadly, three of the five members of this amazing quintet have now left us - Eilidh, Martin and, just days shy of a year ago, Andy. It’s a small miracle that these tapes were found roughly a third of a century after the studio date which produced them. Please bear in mind that this is intended to be a one-off pressing in a limited number, and by design will sell out quickly. We are not announcing the quantity in advance so as to dissuade profiteers from taking copies away from the real music lovers. This 12” EP comes in an LP sleeve and is pressed in very limited numbers, so we’ve kept the price as low as is realistically possible, given high per unit prices for low pressing quantities. He's asking if anyone knows the editor of this zine, Craig Schmidt, apparently a big Fall fan at the time. The name is unfamiliar to me -- anyone here? I vaguely remember this zine title from back in the "Factsheet Five" pre-internet days, but I don't think I ever actually saw an issue.. "COOLEST RETARD no.15 from Chicago, July/August 1981 and edited by Craig Schmidt. Anyone know Schmidt?
