I thought that the first album of theirs that I bought ("Sinister Waltz") was just a bad one. I saw them at Leeds Festival last year, and was just unimpressed. I bought this... and I'm not giving them anymore chances - this is supposed to be good. I've listened to it a few times, and I just can't understand why The Fall are supposed to be so good. The first song on this record consists of just 2 chords, and is over 7 minutes long. All the other songs on the record consist of 2 chords, and SEEM to be over 7 minutes long. No doubt some are. They are just so monotonous and lacking in invention. And the performance is not particularly tight. Probably, all those things I've just listed are the things that Fall fans think are good about The Fall. If that's the case, then it's not for me. And I'm glad. You can have them. I’ve just been listening to the House of All album for the first time in readiness for the London gig tomorrow. As a straight talking Yorkshireman (ee buye gum) I must say it is somewhat underwhelming. The first track is absolutely belting, there’s a couple of other crackers. One dreadful number and the rest are OK. If anybody else is going tomorrow then I’ll probably have a Pop Group “We Are All Prostitutes” T-shirt on.
