Good evening to All,

This year our chapter does not have the yearly Christmas Party available to begin the due collecting process fro the following year’s dues. As those of you who have attended the Christmas party in the past may remember, Harvard and Sara Holmes would sit in the fireplace room and collect dues before you ?would enter into the clubroom for dinner.
Thus this email to provide you with the impetus to send us your check in the amount of $30 for and individual $40 for a family made out to:

EAA Chapter 393
P.O. Box 6524
Concord, CA 94524-1524

In order to provide for a virtual visceral experience, I am providing a fireplace minus Harvard and Sara!?

Greetings To All,?

By way of a brief review, at last Wednesday’s general meeting we discussed various uses for the Grumman plane generously donated to our chapter by Andre Ptaszynski.?The options were to 1) sell it “as is” to raise money for the chapter; 2) make necessary repairs, install ADSB, and do other work as required to make the plane airworthy; and 3) following the guidelines outlined by EAA use the plane as primary trainer for a flying club.?

I have not heard from anyone expressing a serious interest in proceeding with options 2 or 3 above.??As your president the thought of having an affiliated flying club utilizing our little Grumman as a PFT excites me, and yet I recognize the tremendous challenges starting a club from scratch presents and I am concerned that getting 47L airworthy may be an expensive and time-consuming adventure.?

Therefore, absent hearing from someone by the end of the month who is willing and able to undertake the responsibilities of developing a flying club and restoring the aircraft, and who expresses a serious interest in doing so, option one will be executed and I will direct Scott to sell the plane “as is” for the best possible price.?

Please note that is is not the end of creating a chapter flying club, that concept continues and anyone interested should contact me at?rjlbap@.... I’m looking for interested members and those that are interested will determine the aircraft type, structure of the club etc. I want to reiterate that EAA National has done extensive work in this area, providing a roadmap for success for a flying club.

In closing, I want to wish you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving!?

Respectfully,?

Ron Lem?

To All,

Our next general meeting will be on November 18th, at 7:00 on Zoom. One of the items on the agenda will be creating a committee to determine the interest level in forming a flying club. A chapter flying club could be an economical way to fly and could provide a reasonable resource for young people such as Young Eagles to get flight training. If you are interested in being on the committee, please attend the Zoom meeting on the 18th.

Attached is the EAA recommended checklist for forming a chapter flying club. For those of you who are interested in forming a flying club, please review the checklist in order to provide for an informed discussion at the meeting.

Regards,
Ron Lem
President EAA393
