¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGreetings To All,? By way of a brief review, at last Wednesday¡¯s general meeting we discussed various uses for the Grumman plane generously donated to our chapter by Andre Ptaszynski.?The options were to 1) sell it ¡°as is¡± to raise money for the chapter; 2) make necessary repairs, install ADSB, and do other work as required to make the plane airworthy; and 3) following the guidelines outlined by EAA use the plane as primary trainer for a flying club.? I have not heard from anyone expressing a serious interest in proceeding with options 2 or 3 above.??As your president the thought of having an affiliated flying club utilizing our little Grumman as a PFT excites me, and yet I recognize the tremendous challenges starting a club from scratch presents and I am concerned that getting 47L airworthy may be an expensive and time-consuming adventure.? Therefore, absent hearing from someone by the end of the month who is willing and able to undertake the responsibilities of developing a flying club and restoring the aircraft, and who expresses a serious interest in doing so, option one will be executed and I will direct Scott to sell the plane ¡°as is¡± for the best possible price.? Please note that is is not the end of creating a chapter flying club, that concept continues and anyone interested should contact me at?rjlbap@.... I¡¯m looking for interested members and those that are interested will determine the aircraft type, structure of the club etc. I want to reiterate that EAA National has done extensive work in this area, providing a roadmap for success for a flying club. In closing, I want to wish you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving!? Respectfully,? Ron Lem? President, EAA Chapter 393 |
