I use the method of sending email to my
phone.number@.... (txt.att.net) The delay time to receive these is highly variable and up to 24hrs late.

Email to my Gmail address arrives via ATT if I'm not on WIFI and seems to be delivered promptly. And delivery by WIFI is prompt as well.
