Tone squelch does not work on my BF-F8HP
Has anyone else tried to use a CTCSS receive tone on their BF-F8HP?? If I have a transmit CTCSS tone configured, I cannot make a receive tone "stick".? That is, when I exit the menu, the setting reverts to "off".? And if I try to set it to TSQL in Chirp (CTCSS xmit and rcv), the setting will get copied to the radio, but I can never hear anyone who transmits a CTCSS tone.? Also cannot hear repeaters that transmit a tone.

I have one that works just fine.? I use the RT Systems programmer for it, as I do on nearly all of my radios.

You have said that you can't hear a repeater that transmits a ctcss tone when you have the ctcss receive turned on. Q 1) can you hear the same repeater without the ctcss receive turned on? Q2) if? "yes" - is ctcss receive? really necessary if your hearing ok ? ?Q3) if "no" does that repeater currently get to your location,? ?if you use another radio, antenna or even move around to get a signal from same repeater? Thanks, Bob.
A1) Yes, I can hear the repeater with tone turned off. A2) Yes, there is a nearby uncoordinated repeater on the same frequency that often breaks squelch but is weak signal and unintelligible.? It's the reason this repeater transmits a tone. A3) This repeater is only about six miles away.? I can hit it with full quieting from my HT.? Receiving is also full quieting. |
