Baofeng DM-1701 display colour
Hi, I bought a couple of 1701's and when they arrived they had the open GD77 firmware in them, I got the 1701 original firmware from the radioddity site, firmware v2.03, now flashing the radio back to standard the display is not the normal blue, the Baofeng name on turn on is red, so is the menu icon and the icon on the right with the speaker and x, the background is a yellow colour, There does not seem to be any issues with it but i would like the colour like my other radios, (back to blue) Can anyone throw any light on it as i've looked in the programming software and in the firmware software .ini file to see if there is a setting to alter the display colour, but i cannot find anything.
Thanks |

Is it possible that the Baofeng has something different inside from the Radioddity radio so that the firmware can't support what you're wanting from the radio? I don't see what Donald, the software from the radioddity site is the baofeng firmware, I'm? not sure why it's on the radioddity site though, even going to baofengs site gives you the exact same firmware, I did think maybe it could be remnants of the GD77 firmware remaining in the radio that wasn't cleared or over written, but thats just an assumption, maybe if i reflashed the radio back to GD77, changed the colour and then flashed it back to the original baofeng firmware may do something, It's just a thought, I may give it a try if I cannot find a solution, as I said, the radios work fine, it's just the colour. lol

Thats nice to know, nice one, I'll keep that info for the next time i get a radio that needs to be set back to the baofeng standard, I only removed the GD77 from the one i had because i also use other frequencies that are not ham ones and I use the encryption, GD77 has had this feature removed as there is no need for it on the ham channels, I now have a couple of Retevis HD2's and a few other handhelds that are not baofeng. :)? |
