....Faces of Railroading. By Carl Swanson. Kalmbach hardcover. B&W period photos of railroaders at work and their environment. Book is like new. $12.

......Trains of America. By Donald Heimburger. Heimburger House Publishing. 1989,204 pages, hardcover. Color photos of the steam to diesel transition period, mostly full page images. Book is like new, dj some shelfwear on upper left edge. $9.98.

....Steam-Locomotives of the Northeast. By Robert Massena. Hardcover, Sundance Pub, 1989, 256 pages. Beautiful photo book, mostly b&w, of Eastern steam with informative captions. Chapters are oriented by region such as New England, Middle Atlantic States, Northern Southland, etc.Somehow some Midwestern carriers get covered too, such as DM&IR, C&IM, etc. virtually every railroad and many short lines covered. Book is very nice but front cover has mildly dented corners and a sticker on edge. $15.

......Locomotive Quarterly Winter 1999. Softcover, 72 pages. Great issue that covers Rutland, Oakland Mole Station Area, Soo Line¡¯s Mountain types, photosection. Nice condition but somehow a handful of pages seem to have water damage though I can¡¯t imagine how that would happen as effected pages are not together. Perhaps a printing issue, but none of the images are effected. $6.

.......B&O in the Civil War. (From the papers of William Prescott Smith). By William Bain. Softcover, 1998, 157 pages. This little book is essentially a collection of letters and telegraphs from manager Smith, who was in charge of train movements on the B&O from Baltimore to Wheeling. Over the course of the war he transported countless thousands of troops without the loss of a single life. His messages trace his trials from raids, derailments, equipment shortages, emergencies of every kind. Very good condition.$5.50.

.....The Economic History of the Baltimore &Ohio 1827-1853. By Milton Reisenstein. Softcover, Classic Reprint Series 92 pages.. Well written account of revenues, expenses, etc. Interesting. Very good plus shape. $5.

.....Dangerous Days on the Victorian Railways. By Terry Deary. Softcover. Snarky account of early rail safety and it¡¯s lack. 276 pages. Very good plus condition. $4.75.

.....Profane Junction. By Leslie Turner White. Hardcover, 1958, 404 pages. Railroad fiction about building the first transcontinental. Book very good, dj rather shaggy. $5.

....Scarlet Woman of Wall Street. (Jay Gould, Jim Fisk, Cornelius Vanderbilt, the Erie Railroad Wars and the Birth of Wall Street). By John Steele Gordon. Hardcover, 422 pages. I guess the title says it all. Good narrative history of the bare fisted early days of railroad finance. Excellent condition. $5.50.

?.....Sweat and Inspiration.Pioneers of ?The Industrial Age. By Martin Worth. Soft cover, 1999, 204 pages. Great book about the roots of railroads and the industrial revolution. Early locomotives and their inventors, tunneling, steam machinery, etc. Fascinating. Excellent condition. $6.

....The Railway Barons. By David Mountfield. Hardcover, 224 pages. The story of four different railroad ?tycoons in the formative days of Railroading, two British and two Americans. Well written. Book excellent, dj VG.$6.
