FREE Zoom Accountability Write-In

If you're?struggling?to create a writing routine, become a member of our
?community with?author (and?former NaNoWriMo Director)?Grant Faulkner.

Every Monday and Wednesday night, participants?hop onto Zoom, receive some inspiration from Grant, and dive?into writing.

Our free write-ins at Left Margin LIT have been a huge hit. On December 7th, 10am-noon, we're offering another one for those of you who want to sample working in our space.?

We'll have coffee and tea on hand. This is also a great time to meet some other local writers, if you're looking for a writing community.

Whether you're new to writing or have some experience, this course will help you develop your voice, hone your craft, and introduce you to other veteran writers in the Bay Area. The workshop will include writing exercises, group discussions, and opportunities to share your work if you choose. No prior writing experience is necessary.?

For a reader, reading a poem is a transformative experience in two ways: the reader apprehends the what of the poem (its content, its story) and inhabits the how of the poem (its structure, its form). In this three-hour craft class, we¡¯ll examine how storytelling happens in a number of exemplary poems¡ªhow story and structure come into gorgeous dynamic.?

Pressed for time, agents often?make quick?decisions about?which manuscripts to request. So how can?you summarize?describe?your?monster of a manuscript in?a few paragraphs that will excite an agent??This class will show?you how to?craft an irresistible letter. Students are encouraged (but not required) to submit their query letters in advance for discussion in class.

Can we take painful memories and explore them as opportunities for poems, essays, or stories? Can we find solace in the work of other writers, and inspiration to continue the journey in creative ways??In this class, open to writers working in all literary genres, we will create a safe space in which to explore these questions.

Left Margin LIT offers writing scholarships based on merit and financial need. Applicants must be 18 or over.?This scholarship opportunity is made possible in part by a Civic Arts Grant from the City of Berkeley. Deadline: January 4, 2025. .
