Re: Myford S7 install - progress so far
Matt, very nice and a set of very useful photos as I am seriously thinking of starting on one for my S7. I have a gearbox on mine but the ease of cutting metric threads is what is attracting me. Myford S7 install - progress so far

By putting the encoder pulley on the tumbler gear setup, I can completely disengage the system. The gear train cover still closes. I have yet to consider whether it is worth making a cover for the stepper end. The control box is still loose and can't be fitted until I have my NVR switch but once that is fitted, I can tidy up all the wiring. The stepper end setup has an idler gear - this was to make it easy for me to adjust the belt tension rather than putting the stepper on a sliding bracket (I also had a spare idler!) Once I have established how to create a video, I will upload something to show it all working.? |
Re: Any interest in having a FILES folder for the group?
I probably looked just after you did the upgrade, then. It takes them a bit to upgrade an account to the full storage capacity, IIRC. I'm sure things have slowed down a bit since the Yahoo groups crashed and burned, but I expect they stay pretty busy anyway. When they're done, you should have, I think it's 20gb of storage, now. When I did my upgrades, it was 10GB. That's been over a years ago for the most recent upgrade. Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Aphorisms to live by: SEMPER GUMBY! Re: Any interest in having a FILES folder for the group?
Guys, (and Gals) there is already a files folder in the group. With a free group, you get 1gb of free storage. That's split between files and photos. Group owner can allow photos in the files folder, but I don't think the reverse is possible. If you upgrade the group, along with the larger storage, you also get all the new rules. I don't know at what point they kick in, but IIRC there is now a per-member monthly charge in addition to the monthly or annual payments. Might want to look carefully at the current rules before you jump on upgrading the group. Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Aphorisms to live by: SEMPER GUMBY! Re: Any interest in having a FILES folder for the group?
I did it. We now have a Files folder and Photos. Could someone copy the GitHub files to the Files folder.
Jon has previously said he did not mind. Or post the URL and I will do it. It's interesting all of the previously posted photos are copied to the Photos folder.? I am about to head out to the garden and tons of other outside work so I will not be able to really explore what the new group has available. There is a database and possible a WiKi. Re: Any interest in having a FILES folder for the group?
The cost is $20.00 per month, $220.00 per year. I can go for a year, this year. If anyone wants to chip in rhulslander at gmail on PayPal. Ralph On Thu, Mar 31, 2022 at 12:14 PM Mike Philpotts via <sttoplihpm=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Nextion 3.2"
Matt Harrington
In simple terms the approx proceedure is as follows:
1. Open up Nextikon Editor 2. Create a NEW file - this then asks for the appropriate screen to use 3. Once set, import the 3.2" screen project 4. Delete the initial page 0 - this will have nothing in it 5. re-arrange the icons/boxes/text to your hearts content! 6. Run debug to vies your results and modify accordingly..... Hope that helps..... Re: Nextion 3.2"
Matt, what did you do to remodel (resize) the screen.
I have a 4.5" and a 7" display. I thought it was a complicated process, so I never looked into doing it. I can worry about the format in due course.Hi Matt, This was discussed quite recently in the group, look at some older messages. In short, if the screen resolution matches, it will work exactly as with the original screen. If the screen's resolution is larger, the UI will use only as many pixels as the original screen's resolution, so part of the screen space will be unused. IIRC Jon was looking into resizing the UI and making a version for a bigger screen. That shouldn't be difficult to do, using Nextion's editor. Regards, Gene |

Re: CAD files (how to access)
Matt Harrington
David, I now have the ELS working on my S7 with gearbox and I have merely removed the transfer gear to said gearbox.
I'm going to post a note about the 3.2" Nextion which maybe relevant if you have not purchased one yet. Feel free to contact me as I'm just south of Yeovil.... Matt |
Re: CAD files (how to access)
I found out. I was not looking in the right place. Github provided the source. No for the designing onto a Super7 can start. My S7 has a gearbox but I feel that the flexibility of the ELS will be worth stripping it out. CAD files (how to access)
I am hoping soon to start an Atomic ELS build on my Myford and am making sure that I have all the information and sources before I start.
The only thing I am having any problem with is getting access to the CAD drawings in the comcast directory. I am a Fusion360 (hobbyist) user but cannot see how to get the into my pc. I have looked through the various messages and seen Julian's excellent description. Any help would be much apreciated. Thanks David (Dorchester, UK) |
