There are two possibilities here.
1. connect it to ANY computer with its USB cable whether Windows or MacOS and see whether it gets detected at all.
2. Try a hard reset

If the iPhone has been *completely* shut down, you will have to hold the On/Off switch depressed for several seconds to re-boot it. How long depends in part on how old the device is – newer ones have haver hardware. Brent wrote:

Thank you for taking the time to

It's now working
I checked for fluff in the charging
socket with a plastic toothpick
I own my iPhone 6s; I pay ?6 a

Having been Head of Electronics in

failure of an electronic system.
That's why the charging lead in my

I know that later models do NOT

never have the right outcome so even if I look for a model
without an earpiece socket, I think it would? be VERY difficult
for me to manage without a Home button

My iPhone XR has no home button, and no fingerprint reader. It works on face recognition.?
Tap the screen and it lights up. At the bottom of the screen it says to unlock, scroll up, if the facial recognition balks. When it is being difficult or I am wearing a face mask, it presents a numeric keypad for a 6-digit passcode.?
I assume the fingerprint recognition has the same alternative. Borrow a friend’s or stop by an Apple dealer to try it a bit.?
If you use ApplePay, it asks for the passcode to authorize a purchase, so it helps to keep the passcode fresh in your memory.?

Same on the European mainland, but you might have to pay a nominal amount of around 100 to 200 Euro depending on exactly which model. And of course, the European iPhone 15 still has a SIM card slot.

I do NOT know of any Apple shops
that have dedicated Disabled parking within 50 yards of the
entrance - that makes visiting one very difficult
I the past, I visited the one in

It was a VERY unpleasant experience

Is it possible that you shut it down? If so, it just needs to be restarted by pressing the side button near the top on the right.

My SE (2020 I think) has a "haptic" home button. Picture of current model looks the same. Works just like a real button but won't get overuse-failure like my Touches do after a few years (button starts to come un-hinged & finally won't work anymore) bj

Just FYI, Apple Pay is more secure than standard credit card transactions, and is useless if stolen, unlike cash.?

So, do you have a friend, that might meet up with and bring their iPhone for you to try and practice with??
I hear a lot of resistance to change, fear and doubt.
I understand needing to have features to make it easy to use, but whether it has a home button is just a delaying argument, nothing more. After a few weeks, muscle memory takes over.?
I only gave up my working iPhone 4S, because they were shutting down the 3G networks. Pretty much like using a vacuum tube analog TV, until the day they stopped broadcasting an analog signal.?

On a scale of 0 ~ 10, I’d wager I have level 5 arthritis in my hands and the haptic feedback is easily detectable.

I suspect you would have to have severe arthritis not to feel the haptic feedback.
