T41 oscillating again
I was having a nice QSO at the 950W level when my SWR bridge started beeping at me. I figured that the transformer of my end fed half wave had overheated. Nope. The T41 had started oscillating. Guess U8 on the LPF control card has died again. Luckily, I bought a few. This time, I'll tack on protection diodes. - Jerry, KF6VB

K9HZ amp bias 3
I*m toying with an EdenTRX / DSP rig which is capable of AM. If I combine it with a 20W K9HZ (※Bill§) amp, is the building instructions stated bias value correct? It seems to me that AM and SSB are the same with the type of bias adjustment (AB I think) so it would work? thanks Larry KB3CUF

[SoftwareControlledHamRadio] MF changes
My apologies. I*ve been on the road since before Hamvention and unavailable for the most part. I*ll be back home as of Thursday AM and have a lot of catching up to do with orders from Hamvention (and a few prior) and documentation with the latest board revs. Some of the changes to boards are so minor that I did not update the documentation for them. On the other hand# a few more extensive changes were made to the RF board in the MF section that makes assembly much easier# however not documented yet (IN THE ASSEMBLY MANUALS ONLY# the schematics and BOMs are ALWAYS up to date# the assembly manuals take a complete review to update). I*ll be making a few additional minor updates to the MAIN board in the next round of boards I order# the new ISO SPI driver will be incorporated into the MAIN board so the plug-in Display Driver board will then be built-in. It*s been a big success with over 250 kitted and sold to date. Here is some food for thought for next Hardware directions. LPF is good to go for now. At some point I*ll release the new PIN diode board to replace the little relay TR switch board. It will have the new 100W pin diode 每 full QSK TR stuff and a connection for the new AUTO Tuner. NO changes to the BPF board. Works well as-is. I*ve had three people send me their coil winding info which is available on the Github. Use whichever methods you prefer. Main board# I*ve thought about breaking out the A/D converters to a separate board so that they can easily be changed/ upgraded. This can be done with no loss in fidelity since it all drives to digital back to the main board. Anyone care for this? I think I might also put the SGTL5000 either on the A/D card or on the main board. This will eliminate the PIN issues we have been seeing with the audio hat. RF board. A few people are experimenting with different Oscillators# and I think I can do something to make that easy# put the oscillator on a small daughter card that plugs into the RF board where the oscillator now sits. That way you only change the small board each time you experiment with a new oscillator. What I won*t do is put the oscillator on another card and cable it to the RF board like the original V10/V11. That didn*t work well. Any interest? I could make these available as strictly experimenter boards too so the main-stream build does not get sucked into this. I*ve been looking into getting BPF and RF boards made with the small semi-conductor parts prepopulated. On the RF board, that means the PE4302*s and the si5351 would come pre-populated. The rest of the parts are easy to solder. The switches on the BPF would come pre-placed. All at a very nominal cost (less than $0.50 per part plus part cost in the quantity I buy). Always looking for your thoughts. Dr. William J. New T41 site now available
Hi Everyone, I have created, with Jack's help, a new site all about the T41-EP at: https://t41sdrtransceiver.wordpress.com This is an 'information and background site" for the T41, not an open forum - this site or the SCHR groups.io site are the places for posting comments/suggestions about the T41. I intend to post lots of photos of user-built T41 rigs. I have a few already included, but would like more. If I get enough, I will create a separate gallery page of just T41 builds. Photos should be sent to me directly at albertfpeter@... with a brief explanation. I reserve the right to edit any comments for brevity. Let me know what you think. Regards, Al Peter AC8GY

Back in the Saddle 35
Hi All. I'm trying to get back in gear with the T-41 build. I purchased 4 full sets of V12.6 boards with dual RF and dual BPF, Tiny 85V, PE4302 chip, and K9HZ 20W 160-6M PA. I got these from Bill K9HZ almost a year ago. Sadly, I couldn't work on these until now. So, my question is: Have there been any updates to these boards that I need to get and are there updated plans for building them. Best regards and thanks in advance, John Owens K1JO

Checking my math 3
Hi all I have just completed my first 20 amp build. This is my first foray into surface mount soldering and I think all has gone well. Really cool stuff. I am building this amp to accompany a Hermes Lite to turn it into a full 15w blowtorch. The Hermes has an "RF Out" that bypasses the internal 5 Watt PA. I have measured that output on all bands. It ranges from 72mws on 10 meters Down to 42mw on 40 meters. My hunch is to calculate the Pi Attenuator for 41 mw. Is that a good bet? Here are my numbers - check me out and let me know what will be best. I failed Algebra 2 in High School. To attenuate 42 mw to 1mw, I need to attenuate 41mw or 16.12 db The values I come up with are 68.5276 156.026 68.5276 So real values 68 160 68 Does this look right to you guys ? What would you all suggest? Thanks again for this great group. Looking forward to building the T41 ! 72 David W0NP

Back in the Saddle - soldering video 4
On Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 07:25:46 PM CDT, Jack, W8TEE via groups.io <jjpurdum@...> wrote: This is a good video and should convince others that soldering SMD parts to a PCB isn't that tough. Keep in mind, this is a difficult part to solder to a board. By comparison, a 1206 SMD resistor or cap is child's play. This technique can also be used on the Si5351 which is probably one of the hardest parts to solder in the T41. If my fat fingers and poor eyes can do it, anyone can. [SoftwareControlledHamRadio] Just a few
Hey everyone! Tim, W4YN donated some very nice 3 wire pre-made cables, twisted, to be used to connect the teensy audio hat to the main board (the 90 degree pins). I will include these free of charge# one with each main board. Thanks Tim! Dr. William J. Tariffs 30
I just placed an order with Mouser. Today, I see that on some of the parts, they have added a second line item named Estimated Tariffs. It seems rather random. Not sure why they didn't inform me at purchase time. Plus, these are parts that are In-Stock, not backordered.

Loosely connected !! 2
Main board, RF board, buttons, 4 encoders, display, a few connections, and it works! At first try there was no audio to the computer speakers. Also no rf on the spectrum display. I tracked it down to the pcm1808. No digital out. So I jumped on Amazon, ordered one of the pcm1808 little boards so I could get a chip fast. Next day, took the chip off, replaced the original and....sounds...hearing guys on 20 and 40m!!! Setup so temporary the that the antenna coax is via alligator cips.Sounds good. Display stable. Testing unit idea 17
Testing filter boards would be very easy if we had a nice widget that had simple controller and an 12c socket ribbon cable plugged into to turn filter banks on and off. Would make tweaking toroids easier for me if rig was not needed. I use SA or signal generator. Maybe build on bread board ? Build a few and loan them out as needed. Just a thought, unfortunately I am not much on designing nor programming. Tim W4YN
