Re: Pics and files
I've had a Flickr account for many years, and use it to put photos whose links I share with various groups. Much better than having to wait for administrators of whatever group to decide whether a particular photo is worthy to be posted.? It is unfortunate that Flickr can't share pdfs also, but it's very simple to use and Drive (which can share pdfs) is where I store some things that are personal and I'd have to make decisions on whether to share this or that.? This means that sooner or later I'd share something I wanted to keep private and make a laughingstock of myself.? Much better to have all the photos I want to share in a place that's separate from where I store the things I DON'T want to share. Mike Taglieri On Wed, Jul 26, 2017 at 10:38 PM, Prasad ad_prasad@... Roy You get a folder size limit of 100 MB when you start a Yahoo group new. As the folders start to fill up the limit is automatically raised to 2 GB. (And possibly higher if needed). I own/manage 31 Yahoo groups (all special interest groups) with more than 25,000 members. We use some simple rules to keep spammers and scammers out.? Re: Painted Myself Into a Corner Again
Mount the DI on the carriage, set up to indicate horizontally. Once you've got it turning true near the chuck, move the carriage to the end of the piece. If there's an error, slightly loosen the chuck & push on the end to remove the error, then, retighten the chuck. You'll also have to rotate the chuck 90¡ã to check the other axis. It's an iterative process - with a little fooling around, you can get it trued up in all directions.
Since you were able to center drill it, you might be able to use a center drill to deepen the existing hole. You'll have to peck at it, since center drills don't have much room to clear chips. Roy |
LMS 4700 Mill- Finished
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi grop ? I have now finished my Z-lock project for my LMS 4700 Mill. After advice from you I have done it in 2 ways. ? First an idea from Mikes Workshop Sitat: The original quill locking screw is the recessed M8 hex bolt at the bottom left of the headstock. ? Yes, lot of power is needed for a total lock, but total lock is not daily necessary for me, so I just put in bolt. My long ? ¡° key is always there for my LMS screws less Vise.( I have replaced the Allen bolt with an ordinary bolt.) As you can see of the same picture, I have replaced the little Allen bolt that control the boring depth with a quicker system. (the Allen key is not there when you need it) ? The second part of this Z-lock project was to lock the fine adjuster. I made a 6mm hole from underneath, and a quick release key. ? Johannes Mexico ? ? ? ? ? |
Re: Painted Myself Into a Corner Again
Yup, works. Not much to worry about there, Arthur. You have a great surface for the 4 jaw to hold on to. Go ahead and cut the piece off. Just make double sure by indicating once close to the chuck and once as far outboard as the piece goes. If both end are concentric you?re good to drill/bore from the parted/cut off end. Re: Pics and files
Hi Dick, I wholeheartedly agree, particularly regarding the photo and file section. Those are not as simple to abuse and easier to maintain. Simple maintenance pf those would be even less work than the way this group is presently set up. Attachments can potentially get risky but not necessarily so as any abuser can be promptly banned, but still. I have requested numerous times the photo and file sections should be available to members. To no avail. Sadly, this is; I fear, less about keeping spammers out and minimizing said risk than is is about needless control. On Wed, Jul 26, 2017 at 4:36 PM, old_toolmaker@... Re: Pics and files
Hi Mario,
I belong to several yahoo groups and I believe most allow me to post my own photos, files as well as links to my own website. It sure is handy to have that flexibility. I have been a member of some for many years and don't remember any issues with abuse of the posting ability of any member. I am sure the potential is there though and can understand why the moderators and owners closely control what can be posted, but is is unhandy and inconvenient, but the groups are provided at no cost to us so we accept some inconvenience. Re: Painted Myself Into a Corner Again
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe new account worked great....and good photo too!! I stay with my original suggestion - part it, flip it, center it, drill it, and face it.? You also have enough of the small area to indicate and even have finished the large area enough that you can indicate there too. Just to make yourself feel better, you might want to indicate the large end, then take an inside mike and measure the finished area to the ways.? If it's too far for your mike, a 123 block should bring you to a test spot. However, dialing in the small area in your 4 jaw as you normally
would, then checking the large end should do it.? If both ends
indicate, they are on axis. Warren L On 7/26/2017 4:49 PM, acoe@...

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI've been using Google drive. It lets you have public and
private folders. You simply pass along the provided link to the folder or photo
you want to share. Very easy to upload photos and any other files as well like
.doc, .pdf, etc. Not just for sharing photos.

There are many other sites. ? Even Google g-disk works. ? As does Apple iCloud drive. ? There are also MANY who offer free space where you can build a web site. ? They offer limited free space in hope that you like it and want more, then you'd have to pay.? But I'm sure that only expect a tiny percent to convert to paying customers. Google and Apple are both good.? Pics and files
Making the most out of Photobucket's woes. Any interest in having a group parallel to this one, mainly intended for uploads meaning pics and files? has been created. This unfortunately means registering individually but then so does any other pic storage service. If members choose to use it, great. If otherwise, so be it. It's there for the taking and in the end, subject to yahoo's willingness to keep it there. Best, mario
