Hi guys,
I am a new member of this amazing forum, and I have decided to make the plunge and buy a lathe for Christmas (better late then never :-)
I am attracted to the new Sieg 7x12 with the brush-less 500W motor (and no hi/lo gear change) for its low speed torque. However, the only version I could find is the which costs $760 with $195 shipping!
I have seen on eBay what looks like a Real Bull CJ0618 with a new 550W brush-less motor and no lo/hi gear lever for $680 including shipping.
Does anybody know anything about these Real Bull CJ0618 with the 550W motors? All I could find on Real Bull's web site was .
In particular, do they also have no gears in the spindle drive?
I know that there is absolutely no comparison between the service and support LMS provides and the zero support I can expect from an independent importer on eBay. However, I would like to understand first the difference between the two lathes themselves.
One last thought:
Given that the LMS 400 with shipping is actually more expensive than the 8x12 if I use a 20% coupon, maybe the larger 8x12 is the way to go?
Any opinions and feedback you guys may have are highly welcome and appreciated.
Happy Christmas everybody!
