Facing a 3.5mm shim in the 4-jaw - absolutely not!
Anyway- as I have said- the whole point of my post about the height of the compound was not to ask for solutions to a problem, but as a FYI for others to prevent them from buying the wrong size tools, presuming that all 7x lathes are built to the same dimensions. But, perhaps I'm the only beginner who didn't know that! :).
