Ok. Mine has two nuts or half nuts. On one area is a screw or bolt that limits the closing distance. I really had to clean up that mechanism including deepening the hole for the ball so that the lever had a better feel when in position. Plus all the crud and such on everything.? Sand, castings not cleaned up,, on and on. So yea, one does get to know ones machine intimately.? By the way, my lathe was not usable when I first got it. Then I half assed put it together and thought all was good. Nope, terrible. So totally apart again. This time, each component was gone through. Only the motor was ok. And the bed. On some of the components that go on the bed I had to file flat or clean up. Still working on a few more things before I consider it kind of done. Fun fun.

Dont yours have an adjusting screw for how tight the half nuts tighten on the lead screw ? Mine does and it took just a slight bit of turn to prevent the half nuts from grabbing the lead screw. Or am I missing something ?
I think the half-nut arrangement can vary. I now understand that the Vevor I bought is a RealBull machine, and my Microlux is a Sieg. The half-nut arrangement isn't the same on both of them. And, I know that some lathes (newer Siegs ??) have only one half-nut and a hook shaped bracket for the other side.
