?Dear Neighbors,
For those of you who don¡¯t know, this email is in regards to the alley between the 200 block of 10th and?11th St., SE bordered by C & Independence Southeast

I just want to express how disgusted and hurt I am that our neighbors across the street have decided to not use the Furies Alley name that won in the original vote and in the process have also managed to ¡°other¡± Furries, like there is something wrong with being a Furry.?

I hope you all take this time today to educate yourselves on the Furries that you have decided to allow one household to discriminate against, judge and hate. This alley naming is a step back for the LGBTQI movement as well to not honor the Furies and the people who overwhelmingly supported that name.?As well as women as the Furies were feminists.

That you chose rocks over human beings to honor takes my breath away. Its as generic a name as they come and sounds very suburban enclave ish. I would never have imagined this attempt to name an alley could go so wrong. I don¡¯t even think these rocks we are now honoring are the original historic rocks from the alley. Shameful. River Rock Alley could be anywhere.?

We were hurt across the street, that neighbors decided to exclude neighbors from the discussion of this process and more than abutting alley people are affected by this atrocity. It would have been much more neighborly to be inclusive even if we did not get a vote. Maybe we could have talked this neighbor down.?

I am now reaching out to the Furry community. We might start an org. I will definitely attend any functions now, wearing ears and tail and invite anyone else who wishes to Fur out. I¡¯m still in shock and I hope this is not offensive to anyone. But I cannot believe we are fearing people who dress in furry heads and defying the actual history living right here. I hope to ALSO reach to the the Furies so they can bear witness to this travesty. Many of them are still alive.

Who knew something so silly would come up in the naming of the alley. Now I have to live the rest of my life knowing the alley name was guided by discrimination.
?
Please forward to anyone I have missed. Good day.?
