Join Mott's Market and the DC Mahj Collective for an afternoon of mahjong and FUNdraising. This event is open to all skill levels, so whether you've never played, played a few times, or play several times a week, there will be a table for you! Beginners will learn the basics of American Mahjong from tiles to NMJL rules and hands. We'll play through at least one full game, and if time permits a second. Players with some experience will be paired with other players that know the game already and will be able to play at their own pace. As always we'll be nearby to help answer any questions about rules, strategy and identifying a line to go for in the 2024 card whether you are signed up as open/guided play or a beginner.
About DC Mahj: DC Mahj Collective was started by neighbors turned great friends looking to expand their community and help others find community through the game of American Mahjong. Originating in China, Mahjong symbolizes peace and friendship and is not limited to one gender or age group. It is an inherently social game that unites individuals through shared experiences. Whether you are looking to try something new, change up the book club routine or simply want an excuse to gather with friends, they are certain you'll leave wanting to learn more and play again!?
Thanks!
michael
