Re: First Leeds
The Streetdecks have had similar moves imposed in Bristol (those on the long-distance service to Wells through the Mendips, swapped for Enviro 400s). I wonder if Bristol - or Norwich - may end up with the Streetdecks potentially ousted in Sheffield? That said the need for them in Bristol may be lessened now as the new Scania gas-powered 'deckers are beginning to arrive. Re: First Leeds
Having done some searching on Flickr, it does indeed look like something has gone awry with the planned registrations.

Re: Leeds 'transport crisis'.....
Of course, were they to actually do something about the gridlock, First might be able to run a reliable service... It's the same in Manchester. Lots of calls and plans to "do something", but nothing that will actually make the services run better, as affecting car drivers might affect their votes... First South Yorkshire statement
The following statement has been issued by First SY today.
To add some detail to the below: the 26 vehicles expected at Olive Grove are 36221-7/35-53 from Hunslet Park, of which 36221-4/27/37 have arrived to date. Their arrival, plus that of E400s 33705/14/17/20/25/55 from First Manchester will allow the remaining B10BLEs and B7Ls to be finally put out of their misery. However, it is also allowing a number of StreetDecks to transfer to First Leicester (they were originally intended to get some of the 26 B9TLs but are now getting the StreetDecks instead) of which 35117/31 are the first to move. Statement in full is as follows. Ian ----- Statement from Garry Birmingham, Managing Director of First Bus South Yorkshire: As the managing director of First South Yorkshire, myself and the team absolutely recognise that punctual and reliable services are very important for our customers. Over the last several years we have worked hard with partners to improve reliability & punctuality including the introduction of new ticketing technology to speed up boarding and reduce journey time. In recent weeks however, our service delivery performance has not been at the standards that we set ourselves or to the level that our customers expect, for which I am sorry. There are a combination of factors that have caused this including congestion from seasonal traffic levels and the city centre road-works but one of the key issues affecting service delivery at the moment is vehicle availability. We have been experiencing major issues following the very wet weather which caused excessive amounts of electrical and water ingress faults. This was compounded by parts availability issues due to business changes at one of our main suppliers Wrightbus, which is now starting to ease following their takeover completion. Although the issue of vehicle availability is improving, we are taking a number of specific additional actions to ensure we can achieve and sustain stable service delivery. This includes sourcing vehicle parts from alternative suppliers, bringing in additional technical expertise, using additional workshops to complete repairs and bringing extra vehicles into the fleet. In all we will receive 26 newer vehicles over the next few weeks, the first of which have now started to arrive. In addition our recruitment drive is continuing for engineering staff and other engineering options are being explored to ensure we are suitably equipped going forward. I would like to apologise to all our customers for the impact this is having on their travel and assure them we are doing everything we can to recover our current vehicle availability issues and deliver the high standards of service we can be proud of. |
Yorkshire Tiger
A bit of an overdue update on all things Tiger:
ex Arriva VDL/East Lancs 1602 (YJ06 WMA) has been painted in to Tiger livery. 1601 is to be similarly treated shortly, and 1603 (YJ06 WMC) is due to join the fleet from Arriva Yorkshire shortly. The arrival of 1601/2 has officially demoted Volvo B7TL 835 (LF52 TGV) and Scania 762 (YT60 YYO) tothe ?'pool' fleet though in reality 835 remains in use at Waterloo and 762 is in use at Idle depot, as is Optare Versa demonstrator OP07 ARE. And to bring things bang up to date, Solo 322 (YJ10 EYO) suffered an engine fire in the King Cross area of Halifax this morning! Ian |

Re: More First Leeds Streetdecks
Folks it's been suggested that the new batch at Hunslet (I believe 35583-99) are for the 51/52. Any thoughts? On Thu, 12 Dec 2019 at 17:19, ian@yorkshirebus via Groups.Io <yorkshirebus=[email protected]> wrote:

First SY
Around half of the 26 Volvo B9TL/Wrights expected from First WY (Hunslet Park) have now arrived at Olive Grove and been pressed straight in to service, still with Pulse brandings.? As far as I know the following are still to move over to OG - 36225/6, 36235, 36240/3/4/5/7/9, 36250/1/2/3. The first casualties of their arrival should be the remaining B7Ls and B7TL/Presidents at Olive Grove, though a number of newer vehicles are also leaving Olive Grove - StreetDecks 35102/17/18/29/30/31 and StreetLites 63012/34 and 63382/6 are all moving to First Midlands (Leicester and PMT in old money).? Why such an eclectic?assortment rather?than a straight batch of vehicles you ask - simple, they all have major faults that First SY apparently?don't have the resources (personnel or financial) to repair, so they get transferred out for other depots to fix and use. In a similar vein, a number of B9TL/Wrights and B7RLE/Wrights are due to move from within First SY - from Olive Grove to Doncaster - for them to repair then use.? The first ones to move are 37106/8 and 69025.? In return, Doncaster are due to send (fully functional) B7RLEs 69641-5 and 69512-4, plus StreetLites 63377/78/84 to Olive Grove in the next few weeks. First Leicester arrivals
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýStreetdeck 35124 is the 4th transfer to Leicester from FSY at Sheffield. It joins 35117/30/31 and is not one of those previously understood to be being transferred. Two more Streetdecks are due and may, again, now not be those previously pencilled in......Streelite 63379 is reported to be another transfer from Sheffield to Leicester. Again, this is not the vehicle previously indicated. Dale . |
First Leicester Streetdecks ex-FSY
The 5th Streetdeck to transfer was 35119 and is understood to now be in Leicester. The final one expected, now to be 35137, is apparently on the way down. With the addition of the one Streetlite (63379) that should make up the 7 that were originally to be the Geminis from Leeds......... Dale |
