Hi all, I've had an FT-301 for a couple of years, waiting for restoration. Finally got it on the bench and have been working thru the issues. I thought I'd share information about the biggest issue,

I rotated the band selector may times on the 80 meter position and now it is drawing 5 amps so now I am getting some output. I guess I better try to clean the contacts on the band selector. Next is

I would first check DRIVER output just disconnect the PWR AMP input BNCs on the back. If driver making 5-10 watts out, then problem is PWR AMP LPF or band SW wafer switches.

I replaced that relay but still nothing it keeps on doing that. I replaced the caps and the diode as well. It doesn't war to work for me.

Could be that the Tx/Rx relay is sticking in the transmit position. Removing power would reset it. The relay may need to be replaced. Or it possibly could be removed and the contacts burnished. Joel

The vox is completly down. I tryd dummy load and an dipole antena it doesnt change unfortunatly. I can put the trive switch whaerever i want its still the same unfortunately

Starting with the simple reasons first is the vox turned up a bit? Does it do it into a dummy load? Does it do it if the Power is turned right down. Dave…G4DAX

As Dave points out the CW OSC is on the IF board. Make sure DRIVE control is fully CW and measure pin 3 on the IF board in CW MODE.This enables CW from the MODE switch. If not there, MODE SW contacts
