Did the VFO pot adjustment work Bob? Gene

Is there a adjustment inside other than the small knob on the outside? Would the 5 volt supply to the display cause this?

Is there a way to compensate for the error?

Have you found any possible cause?? Mine didn't do it until I pulled the LED board out.? Found out I didn't need to do that to change the LED's as they're socketed (unfortunately I found out AFTER pulling it!).

Hi Forest.? I'll try that.? Any idea about the freq not changing all of a sudden after I replaced the readout board?? And do you know the Ebay sellers ID of the fellow in Italy that had the replacement assemblies for sale?? I can't find anything about him.? Thanks.

Re: From bad to worse

Try adjusting the VFO (triggering) resistor in the VFO compartment. It¡¯s a small pot that will stabilize the readout frequency. My readout kept flickering at the tenths of kHz and this adjustment fixed it.

I have a 301D doing the same thing

Well, after buying TIL306's and TIL308's and replacing them, now I have an FT301D that doesn't change frequency.? Just sits on the low end of whatever band it's switched to.? (3.500, 7,000, etc.).? Anyone have any ideas?? This radio is cosmetically great, and did receive very well; the only problem was the leftmost digit wouldn't display 2's, 1's only and the tenths of Khz digit (rightmost) had some segments out.? I never should have worked on this over Halloween !!!?? Help.? Anyone?

Re: Need TA7089M

Well, I have 6v but still neither the radio VFO or the outboard VFO work. The digital readout changes as it should with the band switch but no VFO
I tried to measure the radio VFO output with my scope but no joy.?

Will do some more checking..

Try mouser and look for a 6 volt LDO regulator. There is always a work around.

Need TA7089M

I read where Yaesu had a workaround for the TA7089M using the DIP version? and that would work for me too. Also a working PB-1436B IF board would work
The radio powers up but the VFO doesn't work and appears there is no regulated 6v to it supplied by the above IC
Any Leads appreciated.? I came into possession of a 301D with the power supply, VFO, and the scope.

Re: rf unit pb1433 noise problem and no rf output. need advice

Problem solved. !!? Replaced mixer IC and a couple of diodes. RF board is now working

Re: rf unit pb1433 noise problem and no rf output. need advice

It takes time for the deoxit to work. now, this morning noise is gone. I tried to measure the output of the mixer Q101 on the good rf board with a scope and I could not see anything. Dont know why. I ordered a new mixer for the bad rf board hoping that will solve the no rf output. Q104 has little output on the bad one but high output on the good one. I tried peaking the trimmers for T1 but on the good radio they have no effect on the output power. The capacitor bank for T1 is for receive. There is a mistake in the schematic. In the schematic I have rx in and tx out are connected togather so I need to go back and re-tweek the RX trimmers

rf unit pb1433 noise problem and no rf output. need advice

pb1433 rf board output of Q104 board pin 14 going into t3 is a beautiful sine wave. output of t3 going to board input pin 15 is trashy noisy. I sprayed the band selector wafers with deoxit and gave it a good workout but it is still the same. dirty signal.
what can i do to fix this?? Is the noise caused by the resistors??
The board produces no tx output. SN7400 output is good, Q106 swapped out with a good one, rf no output, Q105 replaced with a good one, no output.
removed Q105 and q106. Placed good rf board and bad one side by side and ohmed it out compairing readings and are reading identical.I am at a loss, it should work but does not. !!.

anyone with RF board experience advice would be greatly appreciated.

Problem solved
I have the vox board working now. I changed the circuit a little. Now, the MC14011 drives a 2n2222 which in turn drives a mosfet, 2n7000.
It works very well now. Q606 is a 2n2222 and Q607 is a 2n7000.. the diode d602 was eliminated. We will see

Re: looking for parts. FT301s analog face plate and PB1433 rf board

I replaced the receiver mixer and receiver amp mosfets and now the receiver section works. for tx, there is 240 mv of rf output. input to q105 is 95mv. have to check the protection circuit now. SN7400 and Q106

Re: looking for parts. FT301s analog face plate and PB1433 rf board

It was no rx.. didnot test tx
