Can't download Map
Hi Andrew This is a strange one I think. YAAC is installed but the map does not populate.? At the bottom of the screen there seems to be indication openstreetmap cannot download and earlier I was
Re: Using RTSystems cables
1200 b, not 9600 b for the radio. That's it's RX/TX baud rate. I believe the comm port rate can be as high as your setup will allow though 9600 b is a nice rate. ?___ Sent from my two-way wrist

Re: Using RTSystems cables
Tried that. No luck unfortunately.

Re: Using RTSystems cables
Check menu 518 to set the baud rate for the serial port on the head unit (1200/9600). Match that with YAAC's port.

Re: Using RTSystems cables
More info, When I create a port and click on test all I get is a blank window. The RTSystems cables are working as I can communicate with the radio when using the RTSystems software. I am at a loss so

Re: Using RTSystems cables
The D710 actually has 2 data ports. The one on the base allows for memory programming and the one not the control head connects to the tnc. I¡¯m beginning to think though this might be a permissions

Re: Using RTSystems cables
And, as Danny pointed out, the D710's TNC is in the control head, not the transceiver body. Connecting a serial interface to the transceiver body will not be able to access the control head's TNC.

Right, that's what I said. 73 Danny, K5CG HH 550-0609 SKCC 14257

Re: Using RTSystems cables
The D710 has a built in tnc.

Re: Using RTSystems cables
Oh I could be mistaken. YAAC could talk to the D710 if you connect the serial cable to the head unit. 73 Danny, K5CG HH 550-0609 SKCC 14257

Re: Using RTSystems cables
YAAC doesn't connect to a radio. YAAC connects to a TNC (direwolf/soundmodem). The TNC connects to the radio. 73 Danny, K5CG HH 550-0609 SKCC 14257

Using RTSystems cables
Hi, I am trying to configure a port through yaac to my Kenwood D710 using an RTsytems cable. No matter what setting I choose I cannot communicate with yaac. The RTsystems software works fine, I am

Re: YAAC and Direwolf interfacing
That's what I did too. The digirig would provide PTT for you but again, you would end up connecting that to the PTT of the DATA port and you'd be sacrificing the other half of the radio as unusable.

Re: YAAC and Direwolf interfacing
Hi Danny I have been absorbing all the information that you and others have provided and have decided to emulate your situation and forget the digirig (unfortunately because it was expensive hi hi).?

Re: YAAC and Direwolf interfacing
If you want to make your own cables, this is what you need (drawing modified from the manual). The Serial port can go through a DB-9 connector to a USB Serial port DB-9 or you can use a USB to serial
By Danny K5CG · #2620 ·
Re: YAAC and Direwolf interfacing
You can use a GPIO but it is a terrible idea. If you PTT this radio with the PTT input on the DATA port then it will key the radio on whatever side (A or B) is active. If you use a serial port and the

Re: YAAC and Direwolf interfacing
With that particular setup, the DB9 connector had audio ground, Tx audio, Rx audio, and PTT on it (see the TNCPi docs for the pinout). So you need the audio connections to your USB sound card, and the

Re: YAAC and Direwolf interfacing
Hi Danny I already have a homebrew cable with a miniDin on one end and a DB9 on the other. This was from my old tncpi2. In the old setup, the miniDin plugged into the Kenwood radio and the DB9 into

Re: YAAC and Direwolf interfacing
Yes Joe, that will work. Now you need to connect that to the radio body by making the cable or with a Kenwood PG-5H cable kit. Connect the sound card jacks to the USB sound card. The DB-9 data goes
