Missing window buttons
I tried to minimize the YAAC window on my Pi 400 and realized the doo-hickies for minimize, restore and close normally at the top right of window dialog boxes were missing.
It appears I can use the context menu on the task bar to do those things, but I thought it odd nonetheless. Debian bookworm (12) OpenJDK 17.0.10 YAAC 1.0-beta196 Any ideas? 73 Danny K5CG |
Re: Configuration and Alternate Profile
The default beacon is per-profile, so if you change profiles, you will get a different default beacon.

Re: Configuration and Alternate Profile
Were you using the -profile command-line option to specify different configuration profiles? If so, you have to specify the option every time you want to use a non-default profile, otherwise YAAC will use the unnamed default profile.
Also, within a profile, you will always have the default beacon, and it appears first in the list of beacons defined for a profile. Click on the drop-down of beacon names, and you will see any other named beacons you have saved in that profile. Hope this helps. Re: YAAC 1.0 beta190 Rasberry Pi map is gone
I'm not sure what YAAC build KM4ACK is presently providing with his ham radio software bundle; I'm assuming he gets it from one of my official sources, but I haven't confirmed this. 73Linux grabs the YAAC file from ka2ddo.org during the build process so it should be the latest version. 73, de KM4ACK |
Re: YAAC 1.0 beta190 Rasberry Pi map is gone
Andrew,
Yes the root directory was the default that came up when I originally installed and I suppose I should have changed it but it is what it is.? I # chown -R pi:pi /yaac was what I tried before but I may have had the syntax wrong. At any rate I did it again and it worked. Software updated and maps showed up. Thanks for your help and patience for those of us that are linux challenged :-). Brien - KE7WB |
Re: YAAC 1.0 beta190 Rasberry Pi map is gone
It sounds like you originally installed YAAC as root, so now your non-privileged user account doesn't have the privilege to overwrite it.
Whatever directory you have the YAAC.jar file in, you need to recursively change the ownership of the directory and all files and subdirectories in it to the account that will run YAAC ("pi", for example, instead of "root"). Note you will have to be the root user to change the ownership of files to another owner. For example, # chown -R pi:pi /home/pi/YAAC Never run YAAC as root. It doesn't need the unlimited rights of the root user, just membership in a few system groups to access the necessary devices. ________________________________________ From: [email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of Brien - KE7WB <ke7wb@...> Sent: Tuesday, March 5, 2024 8:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [yaac-users] YAAC 1.0 beta190 Rasberry Pi map is gone Andrew, The tile directory is still intact. Re: YAAC 1.0 beta190 Rasberry Pi map is gone
That's very strange, because I posted build#196 (6 builds later than yours) on February 17th this year. I can confirm that build#191 did make a non-compatible change in the map tile file format, so the map tiles presently available can only be downloaded with build#191 or later. Try upgrading YAAC with the Help->Check for Updates menu choice, and see what happens.
The fact that your software claims it is up-to-date is very suspicious. Where did you get it from? If it didn't come from SourceForge or my own personal website , then it isn't official. I'm not sure what YAAC build KM4ACK is presently providing with his ham radio software bundle; I'm assuming he gets it from one of my official sources, but I haven't confirmed this. As for your map disappearing, I hope you didn't delete your $HOME/YAAC/tiledir directory, because that is where all the map tiles are stored. If you changed the location for your tile directory from the default, you may still be OK, as the old directory is not modified or deleted (or moved) when you change the directory path. OS is Linux mint 20.something, i had issues in the past with this and it somehow got saved and left alone but i cant seem to crack this problem. The real bug is the save changes button not doing anything. and second if anyone knows the VALUE for the different ambiguity levels or if that's just a percentage of drift i can modify ill just modify the XML file outside of program and re upload after. linked is the KA2DDO html instructional on that page. and yes i have "None of these changes are activated until the Save Changes button is pushed." into oblivion, i appreciate any in-site into this bug. Re: YAAC map not updating with heard stations and not seeing my local handheld beacon...
Greetings.
There could be several reasons why you are not seeing packets received by Direwolf in YAAC. 1. Did you connect YAAC to Direwolf using a YAAC port of type AGWPE or KISS-over-TCP? If so, did you connect to the correct TCP port number as specified in your direwolf.conf file? And is that YAAC port enabled to operate? Those are the only ways presently supported for YAAC to become a client of Direwolf. And YAAC won't cross-understand AGWPE protocol versus KISS protocol if you connect to the wrong protocol's TCP port on Direwolf. 2. Are you looking at the correct geographical area on the YAAC map? Check the coordinates specified on the edge of the map for the graticule lines, and also in the box on the lower-left corner of the map window. Are they anywhere close to where your station is? Note that YAAC supports the entire world (not just North America), so make sure you put your beacon in the correct quadrant of the planet (not East versus West longitude, for example). Did you download OpenStreetMap data to fill in the background? If so, is it showing the correct information for the vicinity of your station? 3. Are you actually receiving traffic into YAAC? Check the View->Raw Packets and View->Station/Object List tables to see if traffic is coming into YAAC (and you're just looking at the wrong coordinates on the map). If that doesn't help, export your configuration (using the File->Configuration->Export to XML menu choice) and email it to me privately so I can see if there is anything unexpected in your configuration. Hope this helps. Re: Just getting into it
What are the ports you have defined in YAAC? You shouldn't need any Serial_TNC ports since you would use a AGWPE or KISS-over-TCP port for YAAC to talk to Direwolf.
It sounds like yu have a port misconfiguration error.
