Re: Yet another newbie question.
I can't say what those other stations actually are, so you'll have to try. Regarding old-style connected packet mode: In theory, you should be able to do so. As long as DireWolf just passes all AX.25

Yet another newbie question.
Hi All, I see on the map station -bb.. are these ax.25 packet buliten boards, and can I configure YAAC with direwolf to talk to the old packet protocol?? 73 Brad N8YG

Re: YAAC Email
¡°?If Andrew's code hasn't been updated do that handshake, it won't work.¡± it works. I follow the procedure outlined in winlink.org web pages.
Re: YAAC Email
Thanks Greg, the EMAIL-2 worked.. FYI 73 Brad N8YG

Re: YAAC Email
Unless things have changed, you can send (not receive!) email from an APRS client by sending a message to EMAIL-2, with a message consisting of the email address, a space, and the message text. Keep

Re: YAAC Email
Please let us know. Several folks said it as working last week so this could be a process down or a change in the Winlink system.

Re: YAAC Email
Yet again I stumble. I meant sending WINLINK email via APRS is what I was told was obsolete. There is a way to send generic email via APRS. I just do not know the details. I think my son got it

Re: YAAC Email
I just thought I was going crazy.. ok, at least only partly crazy..Email Obsolete?? Perhaps, but I am just getting my feet wet with APRS after a long sleep from Packet Radio in the 80s. 73Brad N8YG

Re: YAAC Email
My bad. Learn something new every day. Never noticed that before. I asked previously about sending email via APRS and was told it was obsolete. Michael WA7SKG n8yg via Groups.Io wrote on 3/17/20 10:07

Re: YAAC WINLINK email
Wlnk-1 worked at least last week.

Re: YAAC WINLINK email
I used it a few days ago following the instructions on the winlink website for APRS link

Re: YAAC WINLINK email
No WLNK-1 is dead or at least something has changed. I can send Winlink fine otherwise but not via YAAC. Andrew is this what you used for design? https://winlink.org/APRSLink [email protected]>

Re: YAAC Email
I was never able to get the built-in email screen to work. I was able to use the basic YAAC messaging send/receive feature with WLNK-1 as the destination to use the APRSLink methodology...

Re: YAAC Email
That did it! I knew it was something I had done. Thanks!

Re: YAAC Email
What little I know is that there once was a way to send to winlink.. without a password.. now I think they want part of your password or something like that interlinked with the sequence number

Re: Can't turn off Weather view
It looks like you are actually referring to the weather radar overlay, which is a special case within the Raster Map overlay. YAAC knows how to download a radar map from the US National Weather

Re: YAAC Email
There is (or was) a crude APRS-to-Winlink gateway once upon a time. I'm not sure if it is still working, and whether or not its interface protocol over APRS has changed since I wrote the APRS-Winlink

Can't turn off Weather view
Hi.? I have clicked off the Weatrher view box in YAAC and restarted the box.? The Weather view will not turn off.? What other options control this view?? Thanks!
By Ronny Julian <k4rjjradio@...> · #187 ·
Re: YAAC Email
so when I use the pull down in YAAC there is a send email prompt that says send email via winlink. This cannot be done then from YAAC??
By n8yg <n8yg@...> · #186 ·
Re: YAAC Email
YAAC is an APRS client. Winlink is a different protocol. You will need to use a WinLink compatible client to connect to a WinLink node or process traffic. Michael WA7SKG n8yg via Groups.Io wrote on
