Issue with FRStack install on Justin's (AI5OS) RPi
Just went through the FRStack install on Justin's RPi per the wiki and having an issue. Unix is not my forte so I'm having difficulty resolving this. Any help would be appreciated. I think it's important to not overly "sell" Node Red. ?Yes, it's a great addition to our Ham Radio hobby. ??
?
but.....it is not "plug and play". ?
?
Using Node-Red is more akin to a "home brew" ham rig, built from a good set of schematics, but no more. ?However, the "home brewer ham", must learn basic building skills to be successful. ?It can be a time consuming learning curve, not for everyone.

Alan, I agree 100% and made a similar comment to Kyle privately. Ron WB2WGH? On Sun, Jan 26, 2025, 11:19 AM Alan Blind, WA9WUD via <a.alan.blind=[email protected]> wrote:

开云体育I also agree. When I help people I try to teach them so they can learn and be able to customize flows to make them “their own”.?In Justin’s case, he is more than capable of working with Node Red. The issue is Node Red is a graphical low code programming environment and the editor is not designed for sight impaired users. This, he needs assistance.? As far as .Net, I am going to build a new Pi later today and include FRStack and whatever version of .Net Mark requires now. I will update the WiKi accordingly.? If anyone has information they would like to see as a document on the WiKi section, please contact me. My email on QRZ is good.? I had health issues in 2024 that kept my participation here very low but 2025 is starting off well and I will be more involved.? Last, when demonstrating Node Red I look at the target audience and tailor my presentation to try and fit for their use with examples of how Node Red can help make their radio operating easier. For a crowd at Xenia, it is a mixed bag. Show some things to get them thinking of how Node Red could work for them. I suggested a live demo of Stream Deck remote integration, which I had done back at Xenia a few years ago.? And the number one thing, have fun! Working with Node Red can be rewarding, especially for those with no formal programming experience.? Sorry I got long winded. Off to winter Fied Day to retrieve my Flex 8600 unless one of the other club members decided they need it more ;-) 73 Dave wo2x Co-admin? Node Red for Ham Radio Sent from my waxed string and tin cans.? On Jan 26, 2025, at 11:36?AM, Ronald Panetta, WB2WGH via groups.io <ron@...> wrote:

开云体育Hi there,I agree that node-red is not for everybody. ?The limitation that I’m having with it is not for lack of knowledge, it is the inaccessibility of the platform’s development environment with current models of screen-reader. ?However it doeskin this case solve my problem of wanting to have a solution to control my radio, amp and rotator remotely. ?Believe me I’d love to take advantage, and put together my own flows, and build my own nodes, I can think of several that I’d like to work with using the Kenwood-ts890, and the flex. ?However, I”m limited that the pallet is not accessible to any of the available screenreader commonly used by folks who are blind, VoiceOver for the Mac, NVDA for windows, and Orca for Linux. ?If the node-red community could be encouraged to think about accessibility in the development plat form that would be awesome. ? Thanks, Justin-ai5os
