AUDIO OUT node not working?

Now that thunderstorm season is here in the Midwest, I noticed that the AUDIO OUT node has stopped talking. I am using the Blitzortung lightning strike detector which is supposed to announce nearby lightning strikes. The detector is working and I have it set up to disconnect my antenna? when it detects a nearby strike. That is working properly. However, it is also supposed to trigger and audio alert. The trigger is working and does reach the AUDIO OUT node, but there is no audio. It was working last fall and I have not changed anything. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the AUDIO OUT node to start talking again?

Have you tried updating the node? Or create a test tab and use the inject to trigger a message to the audio?

In my case the event of detecting a lightning strike occurs long before it matters to me. I trust the shut down process. So I send a email with a time stamp. Then I can review the events later. You know I am not always in front of my daashboard.

Just another mouse trap.

In the editor, in upper right corner click on the 3 horizontal lines. Choose Manage Pallette

In the Nodes tab scroll down and look for any that show the option to update.

Thanks Dave. I updated everything that had updates available. Still no joy. I tried a test with just the inject node and the audio out node and got no audio. The audio node says it is playing, but I hear nothing. I did make sure the browser (Chrome) did have audio enabled but still nothing. Does anyone have any further insight of suggestion as to why I am not hearing any audio? FWIW, I have normal audio from youtube etc., through the same browser.

Here is the flow I am using:

FWIW, I have determined that the problem is in the Chrome browser (W11). I figured that out because I tried using the Microsoft Edge browser and the audio did work on that. If anyone has any idea of how to get it to work on the Chrome browser, I would appreciate it.

Thank you Adrian. I got no sound when trying your demo. I did follow the instructions for allowing sound, but it still does not put through any sound. Here is a screenshot of the Chrome sound settings:

IS there anything else that you can think of that might get this to work on Chrome. It used to and I did not change anything so I think it must be something that broke it in one of the myriad Chrome updates they through at us!

Oops...I stand corrected. I do hear the sound from your demo. I forgot that I had my speaker turned down because I was working some FT8 a little while ago. Sorry about the confusion.
But....I still hear no audio from my flow when using Chrome.

No dice. I have tried it on a Macbook Chrome, Linux Mint Chrome as well as a few other W10 and W11 machines. None will talk from the Audio Out node. I have also tried using Safari and Firefox as well as Microsoft Edge. They all talk, so I have to think that Chrome has somehow prevented this node from talking. Has anyone else had a problem with the Audio Out node talking when using the Chrome browser?

Have you looked to see if there are any extensions in your Chrome Browser. I've seen extensions?do strange?stuff.

I also assume you have deleted cookies and cache..

Open a ticket with the node author. Go to info page of the node.

Thanks Leslie. Yes I have. Since this is happening on all of the computers I have that run Chrome, and that includes W10, W11, Linux and MacOS, but not other browsers, I think the issue is with Chrome itself.

Thanks Marty. Good suggestion. I will try that.

Marty:
I went to the info page but do not see any info on the author. This node was part of the node-red-dashboard install.
How would I find contact info for the author?

Try the maintainers on this page

Also is the contribute version of help?

Arnie,
?
I am the author of the code you are referring to.? I originally took the basic Blitortung.org flow and added the mechanized key lookup as well as the lightning alert indicator with a audio alert.? ?The audio out node? sends the output to your browser.? It appears to be working as your previous screen capture shows it 'playing'.??
?
?
Please check to ensure Chrome can play the sound .? Go to? ?chrome://settings/content/sound? ?and check to see that the dashboard has permissions to play the audio.??
?
?
If you want to manually add a website then add it here:
?
?
This should resolve your issue.? ?

Spot on target Mick,
?
I was about to add that you can access the site settings by clicking to the left of the URL (the Not secure button in this case)? ?Often websites will prompt you to start Chrome audio like NA5B which will set the setting for that site.
?
?
When browsing your dashboard address,
go into site settings, and see what it has configured for Sound permissions.
?
?
I've often found that "Automatic" may not always work, so choose "ON" or "Allow" to avoid the not-so-automatic issue.

Thanks Mick and Marty. I did as you suggested and now it is working. Not sure why it was necessary to add the IP address when I checked the default allow sound. Anyway, now working as it should. And again, Mick, thanks for this flow. We had lots of lightning here the other night and the flow worked great. I have it 'wired' to activate a relay to disconnect my antennas when the lightning is detected within 10 miles.
