I will chime in on this with a comment. ? I have a flow which sends the radio’s TX frequency to a GHE antenna switch. I wrote that for Santiago. That flow can probably be used as a starting point for having the Pi talk to the GHE equipment across the network, then build the interface to the equipment in Node Red to consolidate all normally used controls, meters, etc on a single web based dashboard. ? I can think of two words
Windows updates.
Last thing you want is to have the PC at remote crap out leaving you without ability to turn things on & off. The Raspberry OS is very stable. My Pi running a DMR hotspot has been in operation over a year without being rebooted.
Also the Pi has much lower electrical power consumption.
There are some that run Node Red on a PC running Windows. If you want to experiment then use Windows to get started. If you decide to move the Node Red server to a different OS you can always export your flows and import them to the new server.

Dwight.
No, the other way around.? Devices are connected to the Raspberry Pi and you command the devices using Node-Red using any Web Browser.? The web browser can be on any device of your choosing.
I also use Raspberry Pis, running Node-Red, installed remotely, and controlled from a "central" pi via a web browser.? This works well to operate antenna switches that you want to control via WiFI or ethernet TCP.
Node-Red Dashboards allow you to consolidate everything on one page, so you can set it up exactly?how you want to operate.

Another consideration, I forgot to say, and the most important.
If you use a Raspberry Pi instead of Windows, you do not have to "fight" the windows firewall and other security things it does.
I use FRStack and its REST commands. ?I first tried to address FRStack REST commands on a windows 10 machine and found setting up numerous "rules" and other configuration file changes to get thru the firewall were overwhelming. Then, once I had it working, Windows would complain and then, on its own, find another way to block external web commands.

File /MacDoppler to Goto Telescope Mount Rotator/MacDoppler MacLogger Flows v3.json uploaded
#file-notice
The following files have been uploaded to
the Files area of the [email protected] group.
By: Dwayne Sinclair AB6A <Dwayne_sinclair@...>
Description:
I "leveled" up on this one - I redid the MacDoppler and MacLogger flows to optimize on code reuse. Focus is to put messages into a JS object format so that individual object variables can be easily accessed using msg.payload.[variable name]. I move the message sequence number into the global variable msg.reportMsgId. I also moved the report type into the msg.type variable... As an example msg.type = Rotor Report. Debug the full msg object to see the Type and reportMsgId. If I left the MacDoppler message ID in the object, we would not be able to use rule based execution on change.
