Dfuse demo cant see my vna

paul larner

im trying to flash my vna,the dfuse program doesent list it,the comport drivers look ok,any ideas,i shorted the jumpers powered it to the white screen, removed the jumper then started the dfuse prog.

Hi

When you start DFUse Demo you must be able to select? "NanoVNA in dfu mode'? in the " Available DFU devices" box.? If not? the drivers are not installed? (correctly), most of the time Windows has the drivers available and installs them automatically when the device is connected to a USB port.

After this you have to press the "Choose" button under "Upload Action" and? select the .dfu file to be flashed . Then? press the "Update"? button, now a warning screen pops up that you can ignore, then the flashing starts.

I hope this helps,

Jos

i got it working,it says the firmware uploaded ok,but my vna looks like nothing actualy uploaded when Dfuse found tha vna and said it uploaded fine but ive the same call data and the original firmware version displaying on the vna,it says it uploaded but in fact hasnt, any ideas?

Here's the chance to take in the ST-Link v2 dongle and connect as described.
If you do everything right, it works.
For the first time, this was the only solution for me.

You can set DFUsedemo to verify the firmware after flashing, did you try that ?

If it says the firmware verified ok, than your .dfu file is the same as what has been loaded !

Question: Did you need to convert a HEX or BIN firmware file to the .dfu format using the STM file manager - or were you able to obtain a .dfu file of the firmware from hugen's github site?
The reason I ask is that if you convert HEX or BIN the wrong way, you get a small .dfu that is empty and is only about 24K in size.?

You can also verify in the Windows Device Manager that your device is in DFU mode when plugged-in, as shown in the image below.??

Now, ensure DfuSe says you are in DFU mode (upper left corner of app window) before trying to flash.?

Follow the instructions in my User Guide (files section) and you should have no issues.

Flashing takes about 5-7 seconds.??

Please look at the attached picture, Paul.

I normally enable the "verify" or hit "verify" as 4th step
