Still Looks For A good Unit

I would really like to get one of these units to review on my YouTube channel but their are many to choose from and so many dealers. Here is one I found today. Can any one tell me if this is a good one or not. I prefer getting one on Amazon as they have easy returns.

If the link does not work, it is sold by onebird for $59.99.

Thanks for your time and help,

Yes¡ that¡¯s the one to buy¡ I got the kit with the attenuators. Sometimes they are necessary when the results are too large to fit on the screen. Jeff ve3ak

hamrad45,
Instead of the old model, I would purchase hugen's latest NanoVNA-H, such as this one at Amazon, .

For about the same price as the older model you will be reviewing a unit that:
1. Has more recent firmware installed that allows operation to over 1000 MHz.
2. Has the TDR option installed.
3. Allows DFU mode to be accessed in firmware which makes upgrading easier.
4. Has the diode already installed that allows battery level display.
5. Has a more finished appearance with a molded case which provides an extra level of protection.
6. Has the USB-C termination resistors installed for more reliable operation with USB-C to USB-C.
7. Comes with an extra USB-C to USB-C cable and better through standard.

Again, this is pretty much at a cost that is comparable in in some case lower than the older version.

Tom,

The unit at the link you provided looks identical to the Aursinc unit I bought a few weeks ago
(also from Amazon).

The two small differences I can see are:

1. On mine, the upper SMA connector has a label 'CH0' which is missing in the photo on the link.
2. The photo on the link shows what appears to be a S/N (or similar) at the lower left. Mine has
no such number in sight.

Other than those two items, this is the spitting image of mine, right down to the black Phillips-head
screws holding down the top cover. Mine does have shields covering several areas of the ECB,
and has so far been trouble free (knock on wood). I've probably done about half a dozen partial
discharge/recharge cycles, with no visible evidence of battery swelling etc.

Mine came with a handy carrying box with room for the VNA, three CAL standards, the SMA bullet,
and the two cables, all of which were included in the price.

Those small differences (missing 'CHO' and lower left number) were on "worse" clones without shielding.

Hi all,

What is your opinion of this one?

thanks & 73's

Thanks for the info. This one does not appear to come with a case. There are so many similar ones that have bad reviews. This particular has no reviews. Thanks for your time.

Tom

Interesting and thanks for the info.

Tom

Thanks, that sound like one I should try. I will order one and do a review on my show. Do you mind if I mentioned that you help me find one?

Tom

Ordered this one today..tnx for the recommendation. There are so many out there it is hard to make a decision. Your advice is based on something other than " a good deal". Now I need to learn how to use it.

There are so many out there it is hard to make a decision.
Only a few individuals here have experience with more than one nanoVNA,
with most acquired from vendors who may ship different versions at different times.
According to @gabuchan, there are 3 main sources for nanoVNA;
most here credit Hugen as the key designer of assembled devices,
but Hugen continually refines his design and reportedly sells mostly in China.
It seems likely that many devices on Amazon or elsewhere are by resellers of Hugen's devices.
Hugen confirmed that one acquired from NooElec was indeed one of his, but not the latest.
If USB-C direct attachment is important,
then a device with nanovna.com label on the back is a necessary,
but not sufficient (since easily copied) factor.

Meanwhile...

* NooElec is indeed the US supplier designated by edy555,
who created the original nanoVNA kit and maintains the primary firmware repository.

* Greg W4GAP's linked version IMO is almost certainly a genuine NooElec-blessed-by-edy555 NanoVNA,
probably by Hugen but, lacking the nanovan.com label on the back, may not be the most current design.

* The one linked by hwalker appears genuine, but vendor Leiyini does not appear to specialize in electronics
and IMO may be more likely to source items from multiple suppliers.

* Images for the item linked by hamrad88 are of a so-called "worse clone",
such as I acquired in July and has been satisfactory for my purposes
but less than ideal above 240MHz or so.

* For someone looking for a recent Hugen version >>only from Amazon<<,
the AURSINC version is advertised as "UPGRADED", so returnable if not...

Here ya go.....

$628 CAD for 1 nanoVNA on Amazon.ca - comes with 'free' shipping too !
