Thank you for the speedy responses. I will read the guide as you suggest.?Of course, using a terminal emulator over the attached com port makes sense.?Admittedly, I haven't had occasion to use that method of conversing with attached?hardware in quite a while. Thank you for an outstanding and very informative group.

your questions, assuming you were referring to the save slots: a) The save slots store a calibration (and various other parameters like trace setup, etc) until you overwrite them with a new 'save' to that same slot. b) Recalling a saved slot (0-3) restores whatever you previously saved there, no matter how many times you have done the cal reset. c) it is necessary to do cal - reset every time before you calibrate. Doing so clears the currently loaded calibration (from power-on or the last memory recall). d) after cal - reset, then doing a cal as you suggest for whatever range, then that cal becomes active but not saved - it will be there only until you turn off the device, unless you do a save. So yes, the save slots are there to save your presets - which will include whatever trace setups, etc. you did before the save. And yes, you can start with recalling a saved slot, then re-cal to zoom in or whatever, and it will use that new cal until you do another cal or recall a saved cal again. You need to have the last formally released version of DiSlord's firmware installed in your H or H4 for the 3 SD card commands to work. That should be 1.0.69 You can find in in an zip'ed file at /g/nanovna-users/files/Dislord's%20Nanovna%20-H%20Firmware Install the firmware, connect your Nano to your PC/Mac/*nix box and talk to it using a terminal emulator application. Read my Console Commands document also in the files section to see what commands you can run remotely from the terminal window. (it hasn't been updated in 2 years but it has most of the info you'll need. Also - please read the Beginners userguide, also in the files section and look through the forum Wiki for info. So there's lots of functions available by sending serial commands and getting responses back (as DiSLord illustrated) that aren't available from the touch screen. Re: Calibration
Hi Joe,
Anything that is saved is stored for future use. Once you've chosen a range to calibrate, you can turn the NanoVNA off and then just recall the stored calibration. As far as needing a wider range, I'm not sure, but it would be best just to calibrate it for the new range. 73, Zack W9SZ On Thu, Dec 9, 2021 at 8:41 AM Joe WB9SBD <nss@...> wrote: When you do a Calirate say between 3.5 and 4 Mhz, and save it.<> Virus-free. www.avg.com <> <#DAB4FAD8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2> |
Calibration
When you do a Calirate say between 3.5 and 4 Mhz, and save it.
Now next time you power the unit up (NanoVNA-H4) And choose that saved profile, is that calibration still valid? Or should you do it every time you power the unit up? AND OK again say you calibrate it between 7.0 and 7.3 Mhz. and save it to another slot. Now between 7.0 and 7.3 it is calibrated. But say you temporarily need to look a little wider, say 6 to 8 Mhz. So you widen the stimulus window. Now is the 7.0 to 7.3 still calibrated, and the areas out side close but not? Joe WB9SBD |
