Yes, maybe. But I'd like to have the choice of selecting different subject areas o look at rather than be completely ignorant of anything I had blocked. Regards A On Mon, 30 Sep 2019, 22:24 David Webb, <kb1pvh@...> wrote:

Greetings to all of you nano vna users. I have been following the chit chat
here for the past few days since I ordered my nano. My device is due tomorrow. As I evaluate it, I shall, if appropriate, add any useful comments to this forum. Btw, I think this forum should be split as we are all getting far too many emails, in some of which we may not be interested. Can the controller split the site into different subject areas: like, batteries, firmware, software, scam suppliers, genuine suppliers, other versions of the vna, vna saver etc? Thanks A |

Same here. For me, a VNA is a tool, not a project - making anYes, me too. But for those that want to use it in a lab, things are quite different. Dave G8WRB |

years old and saw kids in the adjacent secondary school making basic circuits with bulbs and switches in the yard. I never even considered the fact that one day I would be able to have a decent test meter, a scope (which I only have basic knowledge of) AND a VNA. It is a new tool for me and I think that using one after having learned how to use it properly will help me along the way learning more about radio. I am in my mid 50's now and am still trying to gain knowledge. -- On Mon, 30 Sep 2019 at 21:49, Alan Lloyd <alanthebass37@...> wrote:

Re: NanoVNA does not want to start -solved
Mystic..... I put together a test board on the ip5306. It works for a long time at a current above 45mA. Do not forget that using ip5306, the charge current will be at the level of 1.2 amperes, taking into account the current loss in the usb cable, this will lead to an early bloating of the battery and its failure.
There is a suspicion of a partial breakdown of the smd capacitor. Assemble a test, separate board using your ip5303, and other components in its bundle. I¡¯ll clarify, I indicated the current consumption between ip5303 and nano (~ 90-110mA). Keep us informed, well, very interesting ;)) |

then more power to them. I already have one but it did not come all cased up like in some video I saw on YouTube and the LEDs are green. I really need to know what I can do with what I have. Does anyone have the skinny on a total newb/lid's resource for learning how to use the device or can point me in the right direction? It is amazing to have it but I am really sort of lost when trying to use it and how. It really is a 'teach a man to fish' situation. 73, Tryg On Mon, 30 Sep 2019 at 21:07, mike watts via Groups.Io <wy6k= [email protected]> wrote: What a great idea for the budding entrepreneur, errr scammer! 'Baud' rate?? - yer showing your age..... ;-)
In any case, when it comes to PCs and USB interfaces, they normally run at the fastest available speed as a default. That means typically 115Kb/s. You can force slower speeds by going into the devices window, selecting the device and changing its parameters there. Hope that helps. |
Re: Installed recent firmware - was this a big mistake?
hwalker: Thanks for the suggestion. I will give that a try.
Larry Rothman: Thanks for uploading the various versions of firmware to the files section. When I reloaded the hugen firmware from August 2, everything is back to the way it was when I purchased my device. For me, the main issue with that firmware is that the in-device TDR features are not available. I have done some further investigation. When I load data over a frequency range that repeatedly does not work correctly when using nanoVNA-Saver 0.0.12 using a terminal emulator, I do not see the erroneous data on the screen or in the data sent to the PC. I am not sure what that means, yet. Does anyone know what the baud rate is between nanoVNA-Saver and the PC? -- Bryan, WA5VAH |

Re: Installed recent firmware - was this a big mistake?
There are also 2 DFU files in the archive I just uploaded that were created specifically to wipe the Nano's memory clean prior to flashing new firmware.
Have a look under DMR's folder in the archive: /g/nanovna-users/files/Firmware/All%20%28known%29%20publicly%20available%20NanoVNA%20DFU%20files%20from%20May%205,%202019%20through%20to%20Sept%2029,%202019/DMR Regards, Larry |
Re: Installed recent firmware - was this a big mistake?
Bryan,
Sometimes artifacts from the previous firmware remain when an upgrade is done and cause erroneous data such as what you are seeing. The cure is to first load "hugen_900_aa_aug-2-19.dfu" which clears out all memory and then load the DFU file you want to upgrade to. If that doesn't work I'm sure other suggestions will be forthcoming. |
