Re: OneOfEleven V1.1.207 throws an error

Hi Ignacio
I get a very similar error in version 206 with Windows 7 64bit when calibrating. After installation it will calibrate perhaps 2 or 3 times and then it will reset the calibration but as soon as 'Short' is clicked the error appears and it seems.to be connected with the configuration file. At first I found that deleting that and restarting the program cleared it but of course my configuration was lost. Now I just start the program, configure as needed then save that file in another folder so that when the problem occurs it's just a case of shutting down the program, restoring a copy of the file to replace the corrupt one and then restarting.
This error only happens in calibration for me so it may not be exactly what you are looking for.
Regards,
John

Re: LibreVNA: Apparently the awaited full 2 port VNA from Hugen is out

To be fair, though, that does include Ali's insurance policy. I guess they all do given the value of the item, and the rate of loss of packages from China.

Re: OneOfEleven V1.1.207 throws an error

Since I can¡¯t communicate directly with OneOfEleven, all I could see was that the December 16th package had changed.
From what I¡¯ve seen in different groups, I know you¡¯re currently busy with a different job. I think with the advent of LibreVNA, it made it possible to achieve it. Since I don¡¯t see any group feedback anywhere, I thought I could draw your attention to the bug here.

Thank you for your understanding. Please use v1.1.206.

Re: HELP!

You did not flash the firmware for your device, there are contacts on the board for switching the device to dfu mode. Find the firmware for your device and flash it.

HELP!

I updated the firmware on my nanovna-h....however, after I turned off and back on, it is just a white screen now.....nothing else........how do I get it working again?

Re: OneOfEleven V1.1.207 throws an error

I, too, got the same error. However, by leaving the window small and maneuvering the mouse pointer around the grid, not into the grid, and to the com and connect buttons, I was able to make a good connection to my H4. After that, I maximized the window and was able to set up my grids (I set up 4 grids). Everything else seems to work fine. Since then, it has not shown the error message on opening or mousing around unconnected or connected. However, this is what I found, others may still have the error show. Like they say, YMMV. You see the port when you want to connect, the error message is displayed. You can only exit the task manager by closing it.
I think LibreVNA is due to the modification.

I can confirm this.
It occurs when you move the mouse over the graphical area of the application.

Re: Comparison Testing of Three Ferrite Beads using the Smith Chart

To diverge from the main topic, grounding the coax shield where it passes through the metal bulkhead might be all you need to fix this problem. I have a IIg that I have done this to but have not done enough real world testing yet, however this is a common design mistake that can lead to RF going where it's not wanted.

Re: Comparison Testing of Three Ferrite Beads using the Smith Chart

FairRite recommends three turns to take out the bias of the inherent
inductance of the wire, itself. Personally, I've done OK with a single
pass through the ferrite toroid. Trouble is with the multiple turns air
wound with out the toroid is that the air core needs to match (pretty much)
to the dimensions of the inductor on the toroid. One turn is easier but
less precise.

I have three different ferrite beads of the same size and would like to
know which one would provide the greatest EMI Suppression at 2.0 MHz. The
ferrite beads have a diameter of 0.5" and a height of 0.25".

Here is a description of the test I ran yesterday. I'd appreciate any
interpretation of the results.

My NanoVNA was calibrated at 2.0 MHz for testing on Channel 0. I attached
a 50 ohm carbon resistor with two one inch leads to the Channel 0 connector
and measurements were recorded. Ferrite beads were then inserted over the
resistor one at a time after temporarily disconnecting one lead.

50 Ohm Resistor: SWR 1.02, Smith Chart 48.9 ohms 29.3 nH

Ferrite Bead 1: SWR 1.11, Smith Chart 49.6 ohms 429 nH

Ferrite Bead 2: SWR 1.08, Smith Chart 49.2 ohms 293 nH

Ferrite Bead 3: SWR 1.02, Smith Chart 49.0 ohms 54.4 nH

A second test was run using a two inch piece of wire instead of the
resistor.

Two Inch Wire: Smith Chart 117 milliohms 93.8 nH

Ferrite Bead 1: Smith Chart 759 milliohms 495 nH

Ferrite Bead 2: Smith Chart 320 milliohms 361 nH

Ferrite Bead 3: Smith Chart 208 milliohms 125 nH

Any observations or comments would be appreciated.

I also have a question on the Smith Chart which traditionally has had a
Resistance Axis and a Reactance Axis. Is the NanoVNA simply translating the
reactance at the marker frequency to the associated capacitance or
inductance?

Thanks, Kent
AA6P

Re: Comparison Testing of Three Ferrite Beads using the Smith Chart

Not sure if it's useful but I was searching for ferrite choke information and found a topic called "Where a choke chokes" from September 20, 2018 by John S. Huggins.
He's showing a interesting testing method that looked promising for testing ferrite chokes.
Here's the link:

Re: Nano VNA F PC interface trouble (probably caused by operator error)

Hello!
Have You NanoVNA-F or NanoVNA-F V2?
1. Driver for NanoVNA/H/H4 - 24 MB download
Unzip, start the file VCP_1.5.0_Setup_W8_x64_64bits.exe - is for W8, it works under W10
2. Program DfuSeDemo 3.0.6 has in the directory bin\driver\win10 driver for 32 and 64 bit Windows 10. Hve You this program?
