no the OP, dk1vi, has his nanoVNA.

Re: Battery/software?

See my topic ¡°inside views¡±. I¡¯ve used a 300mah lipo battery, but is a bit large. Ordered and arrived from a near by store a 280mah wich should fit perfectly. Recomended size: 20x30 (max 45) x 5mm.

Strange peaks in S11 with load

Hi,
got my nanoVNA today (black edition from banggood). Included was a set of cal standards: load, open, short and through with 2 SMA cables. As far I can judge, they are good quality. I measured Rl to be better -40dB with my old hp 8410 VNA @900MHz.
No battery was included. Does someone have a more detailed specification? I know it is 400mAh, but what technology (NiMH, LiPo etc.) and what voltage? I will try to find a supplier preferably in Germany.

No problems with NanoVNA 1.03 working perfectly on Windows 10 x64.

However after calibration I see strong and very annoying peaks in S11 with load connected. The peaks at approx. 300MHz and its harmonics jump up and down tens of dB. See picture enclosed. So I am very disappointed aboout this.
The peaks are independent of the laptop connected. Any ideas how to cure?

Regards Ernst

Your NanoVNA version

Hey Hugen,

I've been to your TaoBao site (), but even with
English translation on the site/page, I can't figure out how to buy one.
The shopping cart doesn't seem to work for me, and I'm not sure why the
price should vary from 2-299 yuan. I guess there are different items for
sale - maybe e.g. calibration kits or some.
Do you sell it anywhere else?

Siggi

Re: Nano Vna Pre-Order?

Sure:

Again, it was only a single experience. But I was pleased enough that I'll
purchase again just to have an experimental unit for flashing firmware and
experimenting.

How EXACTLY are you determining that the return loss will be at least
40 dB

You shouldn't have a problem - I've bought through BG many times.

Hopefully, it will take 3 weeks like the 1st one.

As for a battery, I used an old Motorola cellphone battery from a RAZR and attached it with 2way tape to the rear.
I guess I could have used longer standoffs and mounted it inside the rear panel - works great and it 800MAh and is 4mm thick.
You can use a battery from any larger bluetooth headset as well.
You should be able to pick these up locally really cheap.
If you want to install shields, use parts from an old cellphone.
I mounted a push button sw on the Boot pads so I can place the unit into DFU mode to push FW to it. Get that from a cellphone as well.

Battery/software?

Has anyone got a source for the battery? Mine came without one.

Also, I see a reference to vers 1.2 of NanoVNASharp. I have 1.01. Any link to a possible update?

Does it require a firmware update to use 1.2?

Tnx!

Dr. David Kirkby,

Re: Calibration coefficients - can one change them?

Hello, Dr. David.

You can set the electrical delay with "DISPLAY, SCALE , ELECTRICALDELAY".
Yes, commercial calibrations are not required to be as short as possible, they can provide accurate correction data. But at a limited cost, it is easier for manufacturing to be as short and accurate as possible than to provide more accurate correction data. At the same time for HAMs with no VNA experience, it is easier to provide calibrations that no longer require additional data to be entered, although this is not precise enough, but the measurement below 1GHz is sufficient.

BTW£¬please forgive me for my poor English expression.
Thank you£¡

Re: Nano Vna Pre-Order?

Hi Stuart,
That unit comes with a battery, per the written description and you can just make out the battery looking at a side view of the unit.
In any case, the black unit also has shields over the 3 mixers.
As for price, AliExpress guarantees what you're buying or they refund.

Active Loop Antenna captured S11

Here is the nanoVNA capturing a 40 meter table top loop. The pre selector is in bypass mode.
At these frequencies the response is essentially spot on with the big box. This much fun should be illegal.

Re: Nano Vna Pre-Order?

Thanks for the link Larry. I am going to order one. Not 100% convinced that the battery is included, but that isn't a big deal. I have several scalar network analyzers up to 26.5 GHz but no VNA. Would like to experiment with one without large cash outlay.

I got mine from lifangduo1006_0 <>. It was $75. After looking at ll the others for less, I guess I didn't get a bad deal. It has a battery is the white Gecko. I asked about any info, and they sent me something in Chinese
I have to look at the FW, but I only have 2 traces and saw somewhere there is a load that supports 4 traces.
I wish there were markers on the NanoVNASharp. Ver. 1.02 seems to work OK, but I have to pull the USB cable then turn it on then plug the USB back , and I can connect
