Re: host software for nanovna, for linux users.

Hi Allison,
just a small correction: Python 2.7 is 9 years old, and at the time of
release was described as "the last major version in the 2.x series". The
author of Python requested that developers move from Python 2 to Python 3
in 2014.

I'll be happy to hear about it if you get the software running under Python
2.7. :-)

as
guess what, a new version of Python on the horizon.

So yes Python 2.7 is old nearly three years old! At the rate its going
3.7 will
old in a year and 3.8 is now the current version. See a pattern.
However
that can be avoided by writing code that is less dependent on the latest
and greatest belles and whistles.

In the mean time I will get the code running under 2.7, right now it
complains
a bit but nothing seem horrific.

So yes a lot of people telling people what they should do.

Very good advice, thanks.

I did some dabbling in 3D printing a couple of years ago. I forgot that you can open the files with
an STL viewer.

Our public library here in Ottawa has a lab with 3D printers, scanners etc and I did take their course.
I never did much with it so I have forgotten most of it, but printing it myself would be a cheaper option.

I envision using the Nano VNA in the field,? so I would to keep most of the dirt out.

Re: 3D Printed Case options on Thingyverse

Hi Michael,Check to see what the backlog is at the Toronto reference library for their 3d printing lab. There are several other libraries in Ontario that host the labs as well as a number of creative hubs that may able to print for you.?
Next, download a viewer app and you can compare the dimensions of the thingverse item to your unit. All design files are downloadable from thingverse.?
I use Fast STL Viewer on my android tablet to view.?

Hope this helps.?

the number of options on Thingyverse and the comments about some cases not fitting some NanoVNAs.

Can anyone out there help me narrow down what case might fit ? (i.e. If you have the same model and have
found one of these cases that fits, can you tell me which one).

If I had my own printer I would just try them all but it is going to cost me money for 3rd party 3d-printing and likely shipping
so I would rather not do this by trial and error (i.e. my hope is that the case isn't going to cost me more than the VNA ! ).

Thanks in advance

Do you know who manufacturers the devices sold by Walmart for $38?

Yeah kinda hard to find anything. And if a noob dares ask for help, you probably will get flamed for not using the search function properly type of answers. Oh and a bonus, member emails are available for anyone with an internet connection.

Thanks Dave,

I have no problem with it. But I feel it is good to be aware of it.

The huge number of participants means a considerable chance
that someone got a Trojan virus harvesting all emails it can get.

So not showing emails is advisable indeed.

Re: Calibration artifact at OPEN #calibration

Problem solved !

I'm running the new Nanovna-Q software from Nov. 26.
Before calibration I did the RESET, sure. The calibration resistors are OK, I have two, one that came with the NanoVna and one from MiniCircuits.

The RESET procedure was the problem:
I did not realize that I also need to SAVE to Cx right after Reset. Otherwise the data isn't really cleared and remains in the memory.
If I remember correctly in previous firmware versions the RESET automatically cleared the memory loction without having to save actively.

Whatsoever, now it works fine again. Thanks for your inputs !
