Re: Order a original nanoVNA

In my experience, few of the Internet sellers have any knowledge of electronics test items; they sell a very wide variety of items from clothing to cooking pans. I was lucky and got my nanovna quickly, without damage and working properly, a few days ago. The shipping cost, via mail to the United States was very low.

I'm currently in the process of buying from Maggie at the link Hugen
provided, and the shipping charge (to Sweden) seems to be nowhere near $40.
I'll report when i know more exactly.

I have never looked at Alibaba, but I believe that the buyer protection is
a lot poorer than eBay, so I would be relevant to purchase from there.

There¡¯s no need to spend $40 on DHL shipping. The post office should be
much cheaper.

Mine from eBay had the screening, battery, 4 traces and 900 MHz. The
display didn¡¯t work but, but Hugen said that they are delicate. The seller
replaced it, so I can not complain.

The biggest issue is construction quality.

Personally I would ask eBay sellers to confirm the units they sell have
what you are looking for. Then you have yourself far better covered than
via Alibaba.

Re: Order a original nanoVNA

This is precisely what we've been looking for from the European (and
possibly the US) horizon, a way to know what hw version we're buying, even
if our proficiency in chinese is non-existent.

Ok, so it's what it has to do, no instability. Fine. One can wait some
seconds or just disconnect the battery when working on fw.

After leaving the DFU mode, it will work normally after rebooting.Most developers, it is easier to debug through swd mode using st-link or daplink.

Re: Free gift with NanoVNA

I have had that several times with other items from China, perhaps you are right.

I think it is some trick to game eBay, maybe to show them faster delivery times to improve their rating or something.

Re: nano cases

I think the real value of the nanovna is as a teaching tool. I already have really good accurate scalar analyzers, but no experience with a VNA.

Re: nano cases

Thanks! The jog switch is actually easier to use with the case, it just feels more natural. The protection is also important, it should prevent the USB and switches from ever breaking off.
The reason for that shape is that I wanted it longer so I can use the cover as a stylus, it's a bit flimsy but still works well and the screen don't get all smudgy.
OnShape is an online CAD tool that runs in the web-browser, it's free for non-commercial use (all drawings are public with free account). You can export files for several popular CAD packages.

Excellent design! I like the protective mounds around the power and jog switches. And of course, you can never have enough storage.
Personally, I would have put the storage on the end opposite the sma connectors just so it would still fit a shirt pocket but that's just me.
What design apps will work with the CAD model... nevermind, it's standard STL files. Already playing with it!

Re: DL2SBA j-vna software

Yes, I agree a dynamic real time read would be far better. At this point my feeling about their PC software... quite acceptable. I have used it to do real time alignment of filters and impedance matching. Can it be improved. SURE. In another post, the LabView interface looks quite good.

Hi Hugen,
I added a delay of 50 milliseconds to the code, the hangup was gone.
Does the calibration function now work with such a delay?

void adc_init(void)
{
rccEnableADC1(FALSE);
ADC->CCR = 0;
ADC1->CR |= ADC_CR_ADCAL;
while (ADC1->CR & ADC_CR_ADCAL);
chThdSleepMilliseconds(50);
ADC1->CR = ADC_CR_ADEN;
while (!(ADC1->ISR & ADC_ISR_ADRDY));
}
