If you want to track the changes, you can find the change in a pdf file under the names of the programmers on my website.
True, I haven¡¯t had a chance to review the latest one yet, but what the programmer has posted is the information in it.

I'm surprised people are still using the app to be honest.

I think the VNA's need a good new single app written using the free to use QT
C++ development environment so that it can be easily compiled on all the main
three OS's. I wish I'd used QT to write the app I did, I know QT well as I've
used it over the years for many writings.
Well, not to discredit the hard work of any other contributor of nanovna apps and firmware but the only apps and firmware I run my nanovna-h is yours. I am surprise you think it is not used by the community. You did build wonderful set of features in your app and firmware that cannot be found in other firmwares or apps !

Re: NanoVNA-H (apparently a worse clone) Firmware compatability? #firmware

Thanks for the help guys.

I loaded 1.1.0, have been playing with it a bit, and really like the improvements.

Thanks to Dislord, Hugen, and eddy555 for this handy little instrument.

Thanks for the driver file Roger, but it is a no go.

I plugged in the nano hardware and removed the existing driver.

Looking via the device manager I get this

I then ran the file you provided and checked with USBD

But still no connection or com port showing up in the application.

Tried to use the device manager to update the driver in the usb section but windows states best driver installed.

The error message in the application ini regarding file not found is the same.

cheers

Have you manually installed the correct driver for the NanoVNA?

Windows 7 does not have the driver installed for exchanging data so you have to install it manually. The procedure to download it from ST is cumbersome and requires registration for some reason. So I have placed it on my Box cloud drive for you to easily download. Here is the link:

Just unzip it and install the 32 bit or 64 bit version based on which CPU you have. You may have to uninstall whatever driver is currently there when you plug in the NanoVNA.

What's best for one person may not be for another. Try them all and keep the one you're comfortable with and that meets your needs.?

I have had problems with NanoVNA Saver calibration and crashes on both my -H (old firmware) and -H4 (recent firmware). In a previous post in this group someone mentioned that the Python routines used in Saver do very little bounds error checking and they can abort if something goes wrong. I tend to calibrate on the NanoVNA itself or use the NanoVNA app which never fails when I do calibration.

NanoVNA Saver had a burst of development after the original author transferred it to someone else (due to illness) and there has been little support as of late.

Re: NanoVNA-H (apparently a worse clone) Firmware compatability? #firmware

So... I forgot to calibrate with the new firmware.

When I do so on the VNA it seems to come back with reasonable numbers, but Nano-saver 3.9 crashes when I try to use the calibration assistant.

Re: NanoVNA-H (apparently a worse clone) Firmware compatability? #firmware

Thanks Roger.

I Loaded the Dislord 1.1.0 and it definitely looks much improved, however the SWR measurement is considerably different between the two firmwares.

0.8.0 seems to be correct, showing the typical rise as you get off frequency, while version 1.1.0 is very low, never getting above 1.5:1.

Is there some aspect of this newer firmware I'm missing?

Rich

No usb connection

Hi to all

I installed the nanovna-save on win10 no problem, but I wanted to use an older laptop using win7 and that will not connect to the allocated USB port at all. Even typing the port number into the saver port box does not work.

Running the QT version on the same machine connects every time!

Anyone any ideas?

Using Dell latitude laptop with Win 7 & SP1

I also loaded up the .net framework and VBS just to cross that off the list.

I installed the Cypress driver from the? installer

Plugging in the vna and checking com ports i get

USBD Views

After connection attempt has failed this message is added to ini file

The .ini file has no file call? so I am left asking the forum for ideas

my nano save is ver 0.2.2.1

Cheers Joe

Re: NanoVNA-H (apparently a worse clone) Firmware compatability? #firmware

Use the latest 1.1.0.0 firmware (-H version) by DiSlord that was posted today. It works on Hugen's NanoVNA-H and clones of this 2.8" device..

Roger

NanoVNA-H (apparently a worse clone) Firmware compatability? #firmware

Hi All,

It's a bit exhausting and somewhat confusing, reading through the messages and topics to see if this has been addressed previously, so my apologies if it's been covered.

Purchased more than a couple years ago before I was aware of the clone wars, it appears that I have a "worse clone" of the -H hardware as evident by the font on the "NanoVNA" label on the lower right and lack of shields on the PCB. There are no version numbers or identifying marks on the PCB.

I have added the shields on the board, but unaware of any other issues with it.

Currently has eddy555's 0.8.0 firmware loaded and seems to work for my simple needs so far but wondering if there is a newer/better firmware for it.

Suggestions please!

TIA

Rich

DiSlord? formally released V1.1.00 today on his Github page

So - I've added that info to this updated document and will post it in the
files sections on both the NanoVNA-Users group and the Beta Testers group.

As DiSlord mentioned, this document is a great source of all the
enhancements that have been made to the NanoVNA ans extended family of VNA
devices.

The document can be referred to for colour codes, how to connect serial
and BlueTooth dongles, add RTC xtals, SD card slots and much more.

Enjoy - there's a LOT of info !!

NanoVNA v1.1.00 fw pack for all H / H4 / LiteVNA / V2 / V2Plus / V2Plus4 #firmware

For all hardwares (H / H4 / LiteVNA / V2 / V2Plus / V2Plus4) v1.1.00 can download here:
/g/nanovna-users/files/NanoVNA%20v1.1.00%20fw%20pack%20H_H4_LiteVNA_V2_V2Plus_V2Plus4.zip

Also H / H4 from my github

Changes from v1.0.69:
- Fix saved bmp header, now bmp file open in all software
- Update touch calibration procedure, need touch this point (mark as *), not use screen corner, this allow more correct calibrate
- New 6x10 font
- New medium size Marker plate for small screen
- Added 5x7 and 6x10 font support, use adaptated font size for menus for small screens (H devices and 320x240 V2)
- Added multi color string, use color index 25 (LCD_LINK_COLOR) for set color (default color dark blue: R = 0, G = 0, B = 192)
- 5x7 fonts used in calibration / grid values / frequency / menus
- Add Resonance search measure
- Added Enter button image (replace x1) for SCALE/REF/DATE/TIME input

- Lot of cleanup / optimisation

UI menu text fixes:
- Show selected Smith value in marker menu
- Copy Set E-Delay button to calibration (some users use custom edelay for calibration)
- Use one button for marker search min / max, move buttons from MARKER->SEARCH to MARKER menu
- Move MARKER->MEASURE menu to main screen menu

Only H / H4 / LiteVNA
- Added DATE/TIME input (devices support RTC)
See CONFIG->EXPERT SETTINGS
Date input keyboard (need in YYMMDD format)
Time input keyboard (need in HHMMSS format)
- Added MS5351 support on H v3.6 board
- Add backup feature, this allow save some settings (freq range / points count / jog step / leveler mode / bandwidth or avg / last used slot)
Backup restore settings only for stored on flash slot (not work for RAM calibration data)
By default loaded 0 slot (if no backup enabled / on error / no battery)

Only LiteVNA
- Added USART support, now possible connect and control device over it (like on H / H4). You can use any BT / WiFI / USB to TTL dongle. Or control from external CPU.

All V2
- Now support 401 measure and calibration points (NOT INTERPOLATED)

LiteVNA
- Support up to 1001 points (NOT INTERPOLATED)

Only H / H4
- Now correct reset USB connection on software reset (H4)
- Init i2c bus devices on low speed, change on max speed after (i hope this allow fix problem vs hang on first power on)
- 2x increase wait time for SD card (also hope this fix errors on old slow cards)
- Added new v3.6 hardware support (maybe a replacement SI5351 on MS5351), see Expert settings

!!!! V2Plus4 firmware work only on old V2Plus4 devices, new V2Plus4 devices have different LCD module not supported by this fw. As last V2Plus4 sources (software and hardware info) closed i not support it. !!!

PS thanks Hugen, sponsored the support of these products (you also can help via PayPAL )
PSS finally i update all code, cleanup and made release
