Re: OneOfEleven V1.1.207 throws an error

This should help. That error occurs when the mouse is positioned any where on the graphics window and there is NO valid data trace written on the screen. Once there is a trace present, no error. If you move the error message off of the graphics you can press OK and it will clear. Must be an error if the valid graphics data isn't prescient. If it happens on the full screen mode, you're screwed. Go to task manager and kill the program. This is just a guess in my part. It seems that the graphic engine doesn't like empty data. I'm sure the author will fix this in a bit based on the high quality of;the programing and design.

Calibration using scikit-rf

Has anyone done a "cable de-embedding" using scikit-RF to do the calibration?

that is, measure S,O,L at the end of each cable, then measure the DUTs and back out the cable?

You don't need a signal generator for use with the NanoVNA. It does its own calibration using the built-in signal generator.
And if you are considering using the NanoVNA as some type of spectrum analyzer it will perform poorly and you can check previous posts for the reasons why.

I use the builtin generator in the NanoVNA to help me put my old vacuum tube rigs solidly on a net frequency before I begin calling an SSB net.?? Without that, I have to call for help and ask someone to give me a count.? The problem is that my other signal generators are all old tube equipment, too.?? The NanaVNA works beautifully in this role.

HI Dennis
TINYSA is a very good signal source to me.
And enough stable indeed.

Re: Problem With NanoVNA -App

Roger,

Thanks very much for the help. The problem is resolved.

The developers of NanoVNA-App did an exceptional job. This is a really great piece of software.

NanoVNA Saver.

As one example, the lowest VSWR on my 440 MHz ground plane antenna shows as
448 MHz on the NanoVNA-H and NanoVNA Saver. NanoVNA-App shows the lowest VSWR
around 452 MHz. Similar differences were seen with a 17 meter antenna.

NanoVNA Saver was not run until after the problem was noticed and NanoVNA-App
was shut down first.

I've tried many things without success. The frequency settings match between
the NanoVNA and NanoVNA-App. I have turned the NanoVNA on and off several
times and also let the system create a new NanoVNA-App.ini file.

Thanks for any help.

You have to make sure you have selected the right source for the calibration data.

There is a dropdown box to select None VNA or APP. Pick VNA if you want to use the calibrated NanoVNA. Use APP if you want to calibrate in the program.

Before continuous calibration, start continuous scanning.

Hi
Don't forget that 206 has the calibration problem I mentioned a few days ago or at least it does with Windows 7 64bit and my H4.

Thank you Larry.
I think I might have just misunderstood portion of that thread and the top one on this.

Re: File //NanoVNA PC Software/NanoVNA-App.rar updated #file-notice

It's not in the folder, look about 5- 6 messages back and you'll see a link in Gyula's post

Re: File //NanoVNA PC Software/NanoVNA-App.rar updated #file-notice

Charlie,
The app has no instructions. It was written by the author for her own use and became very popular, so she improved to the point where it is an outstanding application.?
With that said, there is no instruction manual or help file for it.
It works with ALL Nanovna units. You can even update the firmware in your Nano with this.?
You'll want to install the '06 version (last 2 digits).?
You configure the graphics area using the right mouse button.?
More questions?? Ask in the forum...
Now, play!

Re: nano error message from software

My email client stopped showing me images, so I found them on the webpage.
Nanosaver is not really being maintained at this point in time but since it's open-source and on GitHub, you can play with the code yourself, assuming you can.

Failing that, install OneOfEleven's Nanovna-app. Gyula Molnar posted a link to in a few posts back.
The graph area is configured using the right mouse button.
