Re: nanovna saver display
Hi Glen,
IMHO it is only a problem of resetting charts. As you have a frequency range problem: 1) Point the mouse cursor on the chart that show the wrong behaviuor. 2) right click to show the chart management menu. 3) On such menu left click Reset because the VNA Saver could have some "memory" of previous measurement 4) Then always on this menu choose Frequency axis and left click on Automatic 5) Alternatively you can choose Frequncy axis then customize the minimum and maximum frequency. Sometime the problem is on Data Axis ( vertical ) and the chart management menu can help too. Stefano I3VBP |

Re: #nanovna-h4 stops at boot screen
#nanovna-h4
Ken,
I upgraded to version 1.3 and have been running various tests for about an hour without noticing any persistent stray display artifacts. Thanks for the release and I'll let you know if I experience any ver 1.3 related issues. Another member has reported a NanoVNA-saver calibration issue after loading ver 1.3, but so far I have not been able to duplicate it with my NanoVNA-H4. - Herb |
Re: NanoVNA-Saver and the new _H4 firmware
I also flashed the new firmware version 1.3 into my NanoVNA-H4 and performed a 404 pts, 50k - 1 GHz calibration using NanoVNA-Saver to see if I could duplicate Jos' report. My calibration using the NanoVNA-saver "wizard" went fine and I had no problem applying, saving, or restoring/applying the calibration.
I did a full recalibration and touchscreen recal after loading ver 1.3, even though it didn't seem to be necessary. - Herb |
Re: errors of "error" models
Can you explain why they are needed given the current content of eterm_calc_er?

NanoVNA-Saver and the new _H4 firmware
Hello? Ken and Rune,

I flashed the new firmware version 1.3? of today into my NanoVNA-H4 and tried to calibrate the device in NanoVNA-Saver; Sorry I have to say that 4 times in a row NanoVNA-Saver aborted when I press "apply" after the calibration being? done , then I stopped trying. ?? ? ? ?? ? ?? ? ? ? I never have experienced this behavior when using the previous firmware. Stand-alone the device operates normally , as far as I can see. Re: Anyone had news from Maggie King?
My timing was impeccable - I ordered via PayPal/email just before the start of Chinese New Year. As soon as that ended, the Corona virus threw everything in a state of confusion. I exchanged a few messages with Maggie where she informed me of the delays.
Just this morning, Sophia sent me the DHL tracking number, so I think all is well. |

the sweep range to a sub-set of the main calibration range, and the graphic areas also changed to the new sweep frequencies.? It did not work for me! 73 Glen K4KV ps - I have used the program myVNA for a long time with the N2PK VNA.? It works like I just said: when you change the sweep to a subset of the main cal range, the display graphics match the subset. If one attempts to sweep outside the main cal range, the program tells you it does not like that! On 2/20/2020 08:14, gary wrote:
Did you change the sweep on the nano or using NanoVNA-saver. I think you need to do the latter. |

Kurt and Herb,
I fixed the stray display artifacts left by moving markers. Please give a try and let me know if there is still any issue. Ken |

Maury Microwave is another good source of high quality CAL standard sets.
But they are also "not cheap". Dana |
Re: Anyone had news from Maggie King?
Got a reply yesterday from Maggie K, so I sent paypal and now another message from a Sophia Lu saying they got my money but where is my order..So I sent Sophia a copy of the message I got from Maggie.. Their ordering is not as straight forward as Ebay or Amazon.. That's for sure.

nanovna saver display
Glen K4KV
Hello,
Sorry, I am sure this has been asked and answered before.... Using saver last night.? Calibrated 1.8 to 30M and saved as my HF cal.? Swept some antennas that are multi-band. When I changed the sweep to concentrate on 80M, the graphs stayed on the 1.8 to 30Mhz ranges, instead of my new short sweep.? In other words, the graphed results were a tiny slice of the entire display. How do I get the graphed ranges to match the new sweep range? 73 Glen K4KV |
Re: how can I get the raw data of (magnitude, phase) ?
Hi Hwalker,
Reset calibrations on nanovna works with nanovna-saver + n type calibrators with know oslt modell values. I get best result this method. But many manuals says for best result calibrate nanovna and calibrate external program. This is simply not ok. Hard to understand the correct method to avarega users. Tricky part, in hungarian locale decimal dot is comma. Currently, nanovna saver oslt values with comma not uderstand and swith back to ideal oslt model without message. Best way will be separate calibrations to nanovna and external programs. With dot works well user with user definied oslt values. Currently another problem on nanovna oslt model values cannot defined. Delays for open short, fringing capaticance no way to set. N type calibrators usually have different offset for shor and open. 73, Lajos |

But they say they are "Precision" :-)The vast majority of inquirers are now studying this profession, so please humor the proposition. Whoever asks well knows the answer already. 73, Gyula HA3HZ |
Re: connectors grounding
Yes, but for the VNA, you do not want that common ground point to be externally located, out in the thing being measured.
I'm still not understanding the reason for keeping the grounds "floating", in a numerical way. Like, maybe the S21 isolation comes up x dB at some frequency, with some test. I assume this data is around? Bob |

others. There is no hook for arithmetic in Saver. I do wish there was a hook to set the center of the Smith Chart and other presentations in a normalized manner, unity. Then, when one calibrated in something other than 50-ohms, one just multiplies the normalized value by the impedance in which the cal was completed. As it is, even when the cal. standard is 300 ohms, the center of the chart and other data is presented as though it were 50-ohms. One must multiply by a scaling factor factor between 50-ohms and the cal. value. If the cal. value is 300 ohms, that factor is 300 / 50 = 6. If the cal. value is 12.5-ohms, that scaling factor is 12.5 / 50 = 0.25. This is a consequence of the chart and other displays being 'locked in' to an (assumed) 50-ohm system.
