Re: dfu_util command line for updating firmware please ?
on my v2plus4 and my saa2n (a v2 clone with 4 inch and n sockets) the upload of a new fw is with pressing the left (connectors down) or the right (connectors up) button to switch the unit into bl mode .. in your case pressing the jog dial in is the same as when i press MIDDLE button (not left or right!!) ... so you need to press jog dial sideways? and switch on to get the unit in bl mode (just a guess)
for uploading i use nano vna APP (nice frontend, easy to use and besides using the nano with it you also can make SCREENSHOTS from the nanos display) hth dg9bfc sigi |
STM32 Bootloader...
David McGuire
I have been reading the Absolute Beginner's Guide, especially the pages referring to installing the correct driver, page 37, and following. In Device Manager I see Other Devices, STM32 BOOTLOADER. I have followed all of the steps and no driver can be found. Any ideas? Thank you.

Guess I need BIN and not DFU, but I need help...
David McGuire
Hello. Reading Shirley's post, it looks like I need BIN and not DFU files for my NanoVNA-H 4. I currently have version 1.1.01.
In the files section is see Lite VNA2 62 v 1.3.02.bin, NanoVNA H v1.2.08.dfu, V2 320x240.bin, and V2 480x320.bin. I am not able to get DeFuSe Demo v 3.0.6 to connect to my Windows 10 laptop and its USB3 ports. Thank you for your guidance and help. David |

Hello Shirley. I am very confused. I feel I need to update my NANOVNA-H 4.
Current version is 1.1.01, build time Dec 20 2021. The unit has a flickering blue line at the top of its screen. I am hoping an upgrade will help. I want to use it for SWR for amateur radio antennas. Nothing more fancy that this task. - I have downloaded and installed STM32CubeProgrammer. - I have downloaded and extracted NanoVNA v.1.0.69 fw pack.zip. - I pressed the "wheel button" and turned the unit on. The screen stayed dark. I plugged it into the USB cord. And, nothing. - I opened Device Manager to see if one of my USB ports was USB2. Nope. All USB3. What needs to be my next step? I appreciate your help. David |
Unwrapping Phase
I find that plotting unwrapped phase (not restricted to +/- 180 degrees) can provide insight that conventional phase plots cannot. For one thing, it lets you judge group delay at a glance without generating a separate curve. It also makes high-order resonances stand out. I've attached two examples from a NanoVNA-H4 ground probe measurement. I don't know of any VNA software that unwraps phase, but it's not hard to implement.

Re: Nano VNA SAVER graphs of a 40m loop antenna
Thanks, Barry! that's a great image. Did you make it with just 'Saver' or did you also use a graphics editing program too? I would really like to be able to make my charts look like yours. The highlighting of the actual ham band area is particularly nice.

Re: Nano VNA SAVER graphs of a 40m loop antenna
Barry, Try this if you can. I had an 80m Vertical loop (Delta, point down) that I had a blast with (converted to a 5/8 wave inverted L for top band and then lost the limb in a storm). My local pattern was shaped tike a potato. Gave me the continental US and Alberta + Mexico City. I am trying to find another Tree to try again! I have a top band loop up now that was ALMOST as good as my L, but harder to tune time wise. I hope you have a couple trees to try this idea out on, I used an old window sash weight to make the point and fed about 1/3 the way down one side. An experiment I really miss.

Re: Couple problems with NanoVNA H?
Definitely not normal. Should not get hot, just barely warm at most. And
the battery should last a few hours in full-up use. So you have something faulty, unless of course you are using this outdoors in very hot weather. Try opening the case and running it for awhile and see if one of the particular chips gets hot, or if it is just the battery. Couple problems with NanoVNA H?
I am very new to this NanonVNA, so I don't rule out user error. I'm trying to determine if the operation of my device is normal or defective. It seems to me that it runs warm. With use it heats up very quickly, and the battery seems to drain pretty fast. I can pretty much drain the battery in an hour with off and on use.
Yesterday, I was testing a 2M and 70CM dipole I built just trying to learn the basics of antenna building. After testing for awhile, my sweeps no longer made sense compared to my original testing a couple days earlier. I had installed NanoVNA-Saver and it's sweeps matched nothing. Either my NanoVNA and/or NanoVNA-Saver was broken or I was doing something wrong. This morning, I recalibrated both NanoVNA and NanoVNA-Saver. My sweeps seemed much better. After about an hour, device was warm, battery was over 2/3 drained, and my sweeps looked terrible. This made we wonder if this was the cause of my bad sweeps. I let it sit for awhile recharging and then repeated my sweeps. They returned to what I would expect. Is this normal or do I have a defective device? I've attached my calibration procedure and NanoVNA specs. Peter WB3IZU |
