This calendar is brought to you by the friendly volunteer collective of the Madison Infoshop, c/o Social Justice Center, 1202 Williamson St., Madison, WI 53703. As a volunteer run collective serving the greater WI community, we also offer a safe organizing space with a wide range of activist resources including books, zines, periodicals, videos/DVDs, art supplies, topical files, graphics, megaphones, and button makers. We also host a variety of ongoing reading groups, film discussions, and radically inspired cultural events. The Madison Infoshop is whatever its members wish it to be!
Tues. Dec. 19th 4:30 pm ¨C 5:30 pm State St. corner of Capitol Square (outside Sen. Tammy Baldwin¡¯s office) Candlelight Vigil Calling for a Permanent Ceasefire! The vigil and speak-out will be followed by a march to Rep. Mark Pocan¡¯s office to deliver thank you cards for his being one of the 60 U.S. lawmakers to call for a ceasefire. Wed. Dec. 20th 6:00 ¨C 8:00 pm Pastures of Plenty (2433 Univ. Ave.) Potluck for Gaza ¨C Phonebank for Humanity! Let food bring us together in collective action. Bring a Palestinian dish or dessert to pass, and join us in contacting our representatives to bring an end to the humanitarian atrocities happening daily in Gaza for the last 2+ months. We will not let Palestine be erased. We¡¯re calling for Ceasefire Now as the first step on the road to ending the occupation of Palestine. Bring stamps & a writing utensil, a cell phone and/or computer. Paper, envelopes, contact info and sample scripts will be provided. Hosted by Madison Rafah Sister City Project.
Thurs. Dec. 21st 3:00 pm Capitol Square ¨C intersection of E. Main, S. Pinckney & King Streets. Longest Night ¨C National Homeless Person¡¯s Memorial Service. This gathering place is near the bench where 38 year old Dwayne Warren¡¯s body was found on June 16th, 2009. Dwayne was experiencing homelessness, he died of sepsis, a blood infection that could have been treated with a simple antibiotic prescription. Dwayne¡¯s death helped bring the community together to create this annual event. More details: info@...

Dec. 21st 4:00 ¨C 8:00 pm Olbrich Park (3527 Atwood Ave.) Winter Solstice Celebration and Bonfire ¨C hosted by the Friends of Starkweather Creek and the Schenk-Atwood-Starkweather-Yahara Neighborhood Association. Join friends and new ones for song, hot chocolate, cider, drumming, giant puppets, and bonfire wishes ¡ª bring those thoughts from the year ¡°to forget and lose in the fire ash, and wishes to ascend with the smoke to bring hope for more light in our lives as we celebrate the beginning of the long night.¡± In addition to bringing a wish, please bring your own mug to reduce waste.

Sat. Jan. 20th 10:00 am Prairie Cafe (3109 Pheasant Branch Rd. in Middleton) The Tender Recoding of the Cellular Motherboard ¨C Transhumanist Reading Group. Hosted by Middleton Hills Trans Anarchist Collective (MhTAC). Our bodies and minds will transgress and rewire the very definitions of humanity and rediscover the intense cravings to connect and discover that the tepid token of domestic submission has hidden from us. We will be discussing Laboria Cuboniks's The Xenofeminist Manifesto and a journal called Anarcho-Transhumanism #3, and will be considering how the philosophy of transhumanism can be used to liberate us from all forms of hierarchy and allow us to discover unimaginable joys through the constructive tensions of our bodies and minds. What do you want to hack from and beyond humanity to make your own belonging? What would you do with your life in an anarchist biology?
